Shangri-La Behai offers a reminder of big hotel golden days. There was live entertainment in the spacious lobby with views of the swimming pool. Room service also offered a convenient menu that was reasonably priced for this type of hotel. The gym and sauna were well-maintained and clean. Our room was comfortable and offered a fantastic view of the choppy Gulf of Tonkin. Breakfast was filling. There was plenty to eat including fresh fruit, noodles, pastries, and typical Chinese breakfast items. Some guests might be disappointed that Western options are scarce. Seating was also especially scarce during our time there. Other plusses include Shangri-La's location along the water. It is an easy walk to the old town port streets and the more modern beach areas.

The bathroom was dated. It is reminiscent of something that was fashionable in the late 1990s. This is a nice hotel but a renovation is overdue. The hotel is not very cosmopolitan. The area seems to have some ongoing economic struggles related to long-term covid restrictions. It is off the beaten path for international tourists. I saw only 3 other foreigners during my stay at this very busy hotel.

I had a meeting and forgot a tie, couldn’t find one around. They reception people were super nice and found me one and didn’t even want a tip. Brought some fruit as well in the first day. Great stay, recommend.

We liked the very friendly staff, the size and comfort of the room and bed, and the pool.

That bathing caps were required (and aggressively enforced). I’ve maintained pools for a living my entire life and there is no benefit to the filter or pool maintenance, they exist for the sole benefit of the swimmer.

Joey was definitely the savior of our situation, very professional, very friendly and efficient.

We were informed upon arrival that the Horizon lounge has been closed since January 2020. The club access was our and our freinds' motivation to book this hotel and this room category. We were told we could use the lobby lounge, but the lobby lounge does not make up for a secluded club experience by far, besides it was occupied on Christmas Eve for the dinner event. Manager Joey was very helpful and accomodating to make up for this, she did a very good job, considering the given circumstances. However, without access to the club, the experience at the hotel did not fulfill our expectations at all. From our point of view, it is not acceptable that we were not informed beforehand, when we still had the chance to cancel and book another hotel. The rooms still show up as including club access on booking.com. If the hotel closes the club lounge, this needs to be reflected on the booking website, otherwise they pretend to offer services that they don't fulfill, which is not acceptable. The least would be to inform guests who have booked a respective room. There is normally a reason why you book a room with club access. Without Joey who did a very good job trying to appease us, however, could not open the lounge for us, we would probably have cancelled the booking and gone to another hotel. The room was clean, but the hotel overall is somewhat old and run down. Don't go there if you don't speak Chinese.

Location was good by beach

Staff didn’t talk to me even though customer. Room was too hot. When I asked for help they suggested they will open a window after. I was nearly sick or about to pass out.

I still haven't received my refund for deposit I paid. Can booking.com help me.
