The room is located in the old town, two minutes from the waterfront, which was very convenient. The room itself is in excellent condition and looks like new. The staff was very friendly and polite, sending detailed instructions on how to get to the hotel, which was not difficult. From the Fenghuanggucheng high-speed train station, bus number 1 runs for 7 yuan to Qifeng Square, and from there, it’s a 5-minute walk to the hotel.

The city is beautiful, but there’s not much to do here for more than one day.

Fantastic location right in the centre of Fenghuang ancient town, only a few minutes walk to the restaurants and the riverside where a large number of tourist attractions are located. The owner very helpful and came to pick us up from our taxi drop off point in Qifeng square, a few minutes walk around the corner. He also recommended us to watch light show which was fascinating and helped book tickets for the night time river cruise which is a must!

- the hotel is right in the heart of the Phoenix old town. So everything is within the walking distance from the hotel. - the room is very Cousy. Bed is very comfortable for sleeping. - the manager of the hotel did amazing customer service for us. He sent us a message before our arrival, explaining how to get to the hotel from the train station. He also helped us to buy a ticket for a shared taxi to go to another city, and he dealt with the driver of the taxi himself. Very helpful and kind manager

The owner Veronica was incredible sweet! Prior to arriving she was sending relevant information to make sure that I would be set up for success. She welcomed me into her hotel like an old friend. Her genuine interest, willingness to help and kindness was so heartwarming. Her English was near perfection so it was very easy to connect, ask questions and get tips. Thanks to her recommendations (and contacting locals) I knew where to eat, what show to visit, what tour to join, what sights to see. This made my stay so much more special and memorable. I would recommend anyone to stay here who is looking for a comfortable hub away from all the busy crowds yet within steps from the main river. Bonus point for the adorable 14yr old Golden Retriever just lounging around :)

My room was facing the front of the small side street, there is no traffic but unfortunately the single glass windows did not filter out the noise from all the loud speaking locals early in the morning or late at night. This woke me up a few times :( but I had earplugs!

Comfortable, very clean, super friendly staff, lots of small details making it great value for money. The host, Veronica, speaks excellent English and engages with her guests from check-in. Right from the start, she makes it clear about how to reach the hotel from train station . When I asked for good spots to visit, she also recommended nice places to go and nice things to do. I would also like to express my thanks to Veronica for making my request happen. She mentioned that "as you requested", so I know that she actually reads the requests and makes it happen. Definitely recommended!

I wanted to stay longer!

Hemu House is a great place to stay in Fenghuang, as it is close to the river (less than 5 minutes walking), yet not that close to have all the noise from bars and pubs at night. In addition, Veronica speaks really good English so she was able to recommend activities to do, places to eat and give me some indications about how to get from the hotel to Fenghuang high speed railway station. She was also very helpful in giving me indications via wechat about how to get to the hotel on previous days. Finally, the room was clean and had all I needed, so I'd definitely recommend this place!

Great location. Open the location in the App 'A-map' to see where it really is. Google Maps doesn't give the real location. Couldn't be better! 2-3 mins from the river and the pagoda, meaning quiet but in east reach of everything. Also easy to cut through to the shuttle bus car park.

The hotel was perfect. Just a warning about taxis and DiDi. To go to/from the night show (at the theatre) we found motorbike taxis worked best. To come from the station, the shuttle bus. We tried to use DiDi here to go to the theatre and to go back to the station... Impossible! Eventually we shared a taxi to the station and were lucky. First and only place that we were turned down for taxis. So start looking well before your leaving time!

A value for money hotel in a quiet location albeit only a few minutes walk to the river .The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was only a 5 minute walk away from where you catch the shuttle bus to go to the high speed train station.

Nothing really to dislike , our toilet flush didn't work one of the days but they changed our room very promptly.The weather wasn't great but that had nothing to do with the hotel !!!

The hotel was very easy to find with Veronica's instructions. The river and all main spots were in walking distance. The neighborhood was also full of nice restaurants. The check-in process was easy and the staff was very helpful. Veronica helped to book a car to pick us up from the airport and we got early check-in. We also got a map with detailed information about the things to do in Fenghuang.The night musical show is highly recommended! The room was very clean. The beds were soft and comfortable. Great value for money!

It is only a few minutes’ walk to river to the river, so we could enjoy its beauty, but go home to sleep in a very quiet environment. In the evening the river area is beautifully lit up, but also extremely noisy until late at night. Hemu house was thus the best choice of accommodation for us. Veronica was very friendly and accommodating. She gave clear instructions on how to get there and assisted with our luggage. Her husband helped us with an early check-out and assisted with luggage and also ordered a taxi for us. Our room had a lovely view over one of the alleys of the old city. We could watch local streetlife from there - including a local family playing cards around a table on the sidewalk at night, workers on their way to work in the quiet of the early morning, hawkers peddling their wares etc. Veronica directed us to the best places for streetfood in the area and provided a map and information on places to visit.

We liked everything about the property.
