Small, budget hotel right in the heart of it at Zhangjiajie. 10 minute walk to the Tianmen Cablecar. Loads of restaurants in the neighborhood. There is no elevator, so you have to walk up 2, or 3 floors to your room. Beds are comfy, room was spacious (although ensuite a bit tight), breakfast was adequate and the free washing machine upstairs was a blessing. Absolute value for money. Make sure your taxi driver knows the exact location before you drive there, because its located in an obscure laneway. If you're not too fussy, this place is fine and they speak good English.

Mr Wong and his wife were very helpful. They helped us with our itinerary. Transportation options, type of tickets to TIAMEN mountain, Glass Bridge, Avatar Mountain and Red Dragon Cave.We also visited Fenghuang Ancient Town and Furong Ancient Town which we stayed a night at the latter.The Ancient Towns were amazing.Thanks to Mr Wong suggestions and assistance in how to take the high speed trains,etc. The location of the hotel was great. Lots of restaurants, convenient stores and at night there were street vendors/food. It’s a very lively area. The main bus terminal to Zhangjiajie National Forest is only about 15 minutes walk. And the cab fares to the high speed train station is about RMB20 to 25 depends on traffic. In a nutshell I’ll stay at Edinburgh Hostel again if I do come back. Btw, nothing like a good hot shower after a long day out and a couple of beers.

The room was rather small but comfortable. The location was absolutely perfect. Just a 10 minute walk to the ropeway that took us to Tianmen Mountain walking trails and back. That was the purpose of our visit to Zhangjiajie. The lady at the reception desk spoke good english and explained the best options for us to explore the amazing hiking tracks to follow in order to get the most out of our hiking trip.

We liked everything. One little difficulty was climbing the steep and narrow set of stairs carrying our bags up to our room. The motion detector lights did not switch on until we got to the second of three floors. Not a big issue though.

Comfortable bed, the breakfast is very good with eggs, toasts, fruits. The staff is very helpful, the hostel sells cost effective packages for the main attractions (if you buy a combo that includes cable cart, elevators, etc. is cheaper than buying the ticket and this other attractions separately) - it's very convenient having the tours arranged in the hostel since it's not usual to find people who can speak English in the attractions. The location is near a bunch of restaurants, bus station for the forest park, near to the cable car to Tianmen Mountain. Also, we made a bunch of travelers friends who where good company for dinner and tours in the hostel's common area.

Although you can get the tours sorted with the people in the reception all day long, the person who speaks better English was typically around after 6pm. They could include a squeegee in the rooms to keep the toilet a bit drier.

The host was incredibly friendly and helpful, speaking fluent English which made communication a breeze. The rooms were clean, cozy, and beautifully decorated. The location is perfect, close to local attractions and great restaurants.I can't recommend highly enough! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service.
