Kactus Lodge is located in central Pointe-Noire within easy walking distance of most of the city's best restaurants and bars. The beach is just a short taxi ride away. The rooms are large and comfortable with good Wi-Fi, A/C and 24-hour security. The restaurant on the first floor provides a good breakfast every morning and western and traditional food throughout the rest of the day. I enjoyed my stay at Kactus Lodge and will stay at the hotel again when I return to Pointe-Noire. Under the old booking rating system, my rating for this hotel would be 8.5.

Breakfast was standard continental, but good. The best thing about Kactus is the service. One can stay for less in Pointe-Noire, but you might not get free laundry service, a 1.5-litre bottle of water in your room each day, heated towels, or great WiFi. And the location is very good, too. Very close to the Casino supermarket, a bank, and two pharmacies. A convenient intersection, too, for haling cabs.

Kactus restaurant is known for their pizza and they have delivery bikes taking pies throughout the neighborhood, but I wasn't impressed. This was my second stay and so I've now had four pizzas there, and only one of the four wasn't burned on the bottom. So if you eat in the restaurant, go with a panini or spaghetti bolongese or a hamburger instead. They also have salads, and I'm sure they wash them but I just avoid them when en Afrique. But if you are habitué, they have several nice options!

The location is great, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay at the Kactus Lodge. The common room is especially nice with comfortable seating, a great view of the streets and good air conditioning!

The breakfast was a bit skimpy, we had to pay extra for coffee. Also had to pay extra for an omelette. Really, the breakfast was only toast and pastries. They did have some fresh fruit which was nice.
