The atmosphere created at The Cottages with all the tropical flowers in the courtyard around the pool is wonderful, the pool was amazing and so refreshing, the location on Malecon, closeness to the Ocean, the addition of the rooftop terrace overlooking the sea was a huge bonus, would be a great gathering place for larger groups and even a great dinner spot if it was opened up to the community, and the staff was just delightful. Our time spent talking with Lucinda and Jay was a huge blessing to us! We enjoyed those two and loved hearing a little bit of their life stories. Lucinda is the sweetest lady, and goes out of her way to serve and puts lots of love into her meals, and drink mixing skills are top notch. The little details make us feel so special. We really appreciate her. Thank you two for hosting us, and Kimberly you choose well, these two are keepers, hard working, kind and people with integrity! Do whatever you can to keep them as long as you can! Lord willing our paths will cross again and if we ever find ourselves in need of a place to stay in San Clemente/San Jacinto we will definitely choose The Cottages!

A total hidden gem! A last minute booking turned out to be a highlight of our trip to the northern Ecuadorian coast. Kim and her entire staff (including the furry welcoming committee) were the friendliest we’ve encountered by far. We can’t say enough about our amazing stay at Cottages by the Sea. Gorgeous ocean views, gorgeous gardens, gorgeous rooms! Impeccable clean…we can’t wait to visit again and bring our whole family!

This was a wonderful relaxing visit, I enjoyed the hotel so much. They have a beautiful garden and pool, very quiet and relaxing. The hosts were the best people you could want. I visited to have a quiet escape that was not in a big city and this was perfect. I can say the posted pictures are true to the place and it is well kept.

We liked staying in “cottages by the sea” very much. The location is great, you can always hear the ocean noise. It was a surprise to meet English speaking hosts. Oliver and Carmen are very friendly and welcoming. They helped us with delivery from cafes, gave games and swimming accessories for children. Moreover it seems to be a very safe place. We didn't even always close the door.

The room I was in had Ac in main area, just not in the bedroom. Was ok but the warm season was just a month away so be careful. I turned the Ac to 19 in main area and ran all the fans. Just saying..

Very nice and quiet boutique hotel. Spacious, clean, and well-equipped apartment. Hot shower, kitchen, secure (gated) parking. The property features a lot of vegetation, a pool, and interesting decor. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast on site and many restaurants nearby.

Location was great and Luisa and Jay are fantastic hosts. Breakfast's were great ! They were also fantastic in helping to get us to the places we wanted to see.

Great location walking distance to San Clemente & also San Jacinto.

Lack of acceptance of credit cards. Just returned from Colombia where cc are accepted by folks selling necklaces & bracelets on the beach.

This place is great, the room was a little bit too small, but everything else was fantastic.
