Maravu Lodge was exactly what we were hoping for! The staff were the standout of our experience; they were incredibly friendly, helpful, and relaxed. They were happy to organise trips for us or give us advice when we wanted to do things ourselves independently. They were also happy to just have a chat and a laugh. I would say they went above and beyond what I expected, I can't praise them enough. We ate breakfast and dinner in Maravu most days and were very happy with the food in terms of quality, price, variety, and portion size. The grounds were beautiful with well-maintained gardens. We had a private bure which was spacious, comfortable, and clean.

It didn't detract from our experience in any way, but some visitors may not like the fact that the power in the accommodation was often turned off from 11am to 4pm unless they were able to run on solar energy, and the WiFi was slow. However, there was always power and WiFi available around the reception / bar / restaurant area if required.

The staff are doing their best to keep this property afloat. The foreign owner is apparently not all that interested in upkeep, only profits. This is a true gem of a place in Taveuni. It bridges the gap between high class resorts with exorbitant prices and home stays. You get to stay in traditional bures and imagine what life might have been 50 years ago.. Staff are genuine. They are terrified about their future, and understand I don’t think a pleading FJD$20 tip is going to make things better. This place is crying out for a cashed up owner with vision. So sad that I have had to put it in such plain terms. Such is today’s world….

This is THE place to stay at if you go to Taveuni. It's really well located, close to dive centers / rainbow reef and it's easy to take the bus to go to Bouma to do the Lavena and Tavoro waterfall hikes. The rooms are surrounded by beautiful nature, the pool is great and the food very tasty. If you're traveling solo, you might meet other like minded people as it's the only place with a dorm. The best thing about the lodge is the staff, who will make you feel welcomed and looked after during your whole stay and who will share more about their culture if you take the time to chat to them. Be sure to try kava and listen to the beautiful music Kali plays every evening. Also they run a morning boat ride to try and see dolphins (couldn't see them when I went but you get to snorkel too) . Nice quiet location, we had some really good sleep here. The pool is small but a lovely temperature. You can book a few shared tours here as well as diving and snorkelling trips - they make it very easy for you. The staff also helped us hire a rental car - the main lady at reception helped us with quite a few things.

The bottom bedsheet had some animal poo at the head - like it hadn't been used for a while, then a top sheet put on top when we were coming in. There was also debris on top of the cloth that stretched across the bedposts above the bed. We let the staff know and they fixed it straight away, but probably shouldn't have happened to begin with. It was a bit surprising that they didn't have pathways between the rooms and main lodge - you have to walk through the grass which is fine most of the time except for the day that they cut the grass and then we got wet grass all over our feet and shoes every time we had to walk to our room.

Very nice setting, big and airy rooms (bures), a good restaurant and very nice and friendly staff. Maravu has a very relaxing athmosphere, there is absolutely no stress around. And not overpriced as so many other places on Taveuni. Sometimes it looks a bit unorganized but that's just the fijian way, in the end everything works out.

Such a nice place! We were staying in the hilltop villa, which actually is a beautiful 2 BR house with 2 en suites, a small kitchen and a huge terrace with comfortable furniture and the most amazing view! We never tried to walk up there, as every time we wanted to go out or back to the villa, we just had to phone reception and someone would pick us up by car within five minutes and drive us to the reception, the beach or even near by restaurants. The staff were extremely friendly, they even took us on an amazing snorkeling trip without any extra cost. No need for a rental car as they assist with transportation even to the airport that is just a couple of minutes away, and we payed 70 FJD for a taxi that took us to the international date line and the natural water slide and stayed with us the whole afternoon. Already planning our next trip!

The only reason for not giving 10/10 is really the power cut issue that has been mentioned before. We were aware of it when we arrived and could avoid to stay in the house during the time power is off except for the day we arrived. But I agree, you should be informed about this before you book, and 5 hours in the middle of the day is a really long time, and hot! Nothing in the fridge stays cold and the shower doesn't work properly either because the pump is electric.

The staff were amazing. Tours, recommendations and day to day conversations.. all were so welcoming and friendly. They also helped us move rooms when we had accessibility issues with our first room.

The website and booking.com listing information is not fully accurate. There is aircon, but the property is on a generator which is turned off between 11am to 4pm. We could have planned a bit better if we knew this in advance of arrival. Also the accommodations are not accessible, particularly the villa up the hill. This meant we had to change rooms after our first night, and luckily the staff helped move us but if it had been fully booked this would have been a major issue.

Nice outlook , beautiful setting. Nice location close to beach & some cool cafes & local fruit stall with yummy sorbet. Staff mostly friendly especially Kali. He was very kind and his nightly Fijian songs to the guitar were the best. Room was clean and comfortable. Beds little bit creaky but comfortable Good was excellent- especially the raorao patties & cassava chips Internet wireless was poor and phones didn’t charge properly. Property runs on a generator.

The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming and happy to assist with any inquiries or concerns. They helped in organising day tours and excursions. The grounds were so lovely and very well kept. The pool was a welcoming surprise, and there are plenty of sun lounges and shade options. The restaurant, which as I understand is operated by people in a nearby village, was outstanding. The food was excellent and very well priced. The real stars of the show for me were Rafa and Kali. Rafa with his cheery & playful attitude, and Kali with his gentle kindness. I was sad to leave and endeavour to return in the near future!!

A little more attention to the toilet paper stocks in the various bathrooms is needed. It would also be nice for dorm accommodations to include towels.

Everything was fabulous, the food, the people, the room, the surroundings, the local beach. Perfect, I could not have asked for a better place to experience the beauty of Taveuni. Activities could be organised at the lodge and information and advice was always given freely. The staff there were all lovely, big shout out to Khali!! The gardens are beautiful and perfect to hang out in reading a book or relaxing (just beware of coconuts!) there is a lovely beach nearby with some food places and good snorkelling. I did some diving with Taveuni Ocean Sports (can organise through the lodge) and wow, just wow. Vinaka vaka levu, I will be back!
