An amazing hotel with a truly unique concept — everything is designed to resemble a prison, and the execution is absolutely brilliant! The idea is creative and fun, and the attention to detail makes the experience unforgettable. The staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were tasty, and the location is excellent, making it easy to get around. This stay left a lasting impression on us, and we’ll definitely remember it for a long time. Highly recommended to everyone looking for something different and memorable!

Wonderful historic hotel built in a converted prison right in old town Amberg. Rooms are small but clean, nice and comfortable. Bathrooms are modern and spacious. Great breakfast served on site and beer, wine and snacks available for purchase.

No air conditioning if it is hot. Would be nice to have a fan in the room.

Five adult female cousins had the family room. The location is perfect across the street from the beautiful Forggensee and a bier garten. The friendly gentleman ( sorry forgot his name) who checked us in was helpful and spoke perfect English. Breakfast was varied and delicious. Parking for Neuschwanstein is only a 10 minute drive away.

The atmosphere was fun and unique. The staff were super friendly and the location was perfect. I had a great view during breakfast. Would absolutely recommend to others.

Breakfast quality was not the best, specifically the warm options. Bacon should be cooked longer and the eggs need help.

Everything, being a converted prison it is 'querky' and interesting with the prison bars retained, the old cell doors retained but used to excellent effect as supports for showers etc. Excellent central location , only 5 mins walk from the city centre with a great ice cream shop. Attentive staff, very helpful and they contact you if you are going to be late as the reception is unmanned after 8 pm.

No hotel parking so you have to take pot luck that there are s[paces in the street outside. If you do park there remember its only free up to 8am then you have to pay, only 2 Euros for 2 hours, so not a big deal.

Such a cool hotel. Staff is amazing. The hotel really thinks of all the small touches to bring the prison theme full circle. Shower was amazing! Wooden sliding bathroom door, prison style sink, comfortable bed. Great location, close walking distance to the marktplatz.

It is pretty loud at night when the windows are open with people walking by. Our room was very close to ground level and the noises of cars and people was a bit much at times. But would still stay there again.

An interesting and historical building. Near the market square and easy walking around a cute neighborhood. Also had secure space for bikes.

The breakfast was nice, but it was expensive.

Everything!!! What a charming property in an enchanting little town. You can walk to shops, restaurants, cafes and historical sights. Service was top notch and the prison vibe was just right....interesting but not too cheesy. This was my second visit and will be my accommodation of choice next time I am in Amberg.

Breakfast was awesome. Historic building in the old-town city wall. Great staff. The room was spartan, AKA prison, but enjoyable. Location was terrific.

Comfort was somewhat lacking for sitting. Bed a bit too spartan.

Loved the rooms. So, it is an old prison, and one can only imagine the ghost that must haunt the place. So, it is just after 2am I am curled up under my blanket sleeping soundly. In the dead of the night the TV comes on. I stumble out of my bed to turn off the TV and it would not shut off. As I go upstairs to my bed the lights flicker on. Now that is it for me. I am going to get my blanket and my pillow and go sleep in my friends room. As I left up my blanket I discover the remote is on the bed and I had rolled over on the remote and turned on the TV and had hit the light switch on the wall. The rest of the night I slept very well. 😏
