I had the most amazing stay at Utopia Rote Lodge. Aimone went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable, even giving me the best room since I was the only guest for the first few days. The food was fantastic, the views were absolutely insane, and the whole experience felt magical—like living in a nature miracle. It’s peaceful, eco-friendly, and truly one of those rare places that stay with you long after you leave. I just can’t recommend it enough.

I loved everything

Utopia Lodge on Rote Island is an absolute gem that I can't recommend highly enough. Nestled on a serene hillside, this magical retreat offers a perfect blend of tranquility and charm, with breathtaking views of the island and the best sunset you’ll ever witness. The lodge itself is thoughtfully designed, with a style that’s both simple and incredibly well-crafted, down to the smallest details. The garden is a true oasis—lush, peaceful, and brimming with life. It’s a place where you can truly relax and unwind, surrounded by nature's beauty. The host, an Italian who grew up in South Africa, is an extraordinary person who makes your stay unforgettable. His warmth and kindness shine through in everything he does, from the moment you arrive until you reluctantly have to leave. He’s not just a host; he’s someone who genuinely cares about your experience, always going the extra mile to ensure your stay is perfect. One of the highlights of Utopia Lodge is the food. Every meal feels like a special occasion, with a menu that changes daily, featuring home-cooked dishes made with fresh ingredients, many of which come straight from the garden. Whether it’s an Italian night or a taste of Indonesian cuisine, you’re in for a culinary treat that’s both hearty and delightful. Despite its secluded feel, the lodge is conveniently close to town—just a quick 5-minute scooter ride away—so you can easily explore the local area. But honestly, once you’re here, you might find it hard to leave the peaceful haven that is Utopia Lodge. Utopia is absolutely beautiful. The views are fantastic, The place is really inmerge in nature, a perfect place to relax and rest. Food is exceptional, breakfast are quite complete and well made, healthy and some other great options in the menu. The staff and his host, Aimone, are fantastic people who makes you feel very welcome. Aimone helps you with any needs or curiosities you need to know about Rote.

I don’t think there’s something we can say that we didn’t like

Utopia is a short drive uphill from the main Nemberala strip, with views over the jungle to the sea. The rooms are comfortable, open, simple and beautiful with amazing views. Aimone is a natural welcoming host, a great cook and helped organise trips and adventures for our family. Review by Ingrid Age 8 and a half… I love the bedrooms because they are comfortable, cosy, peaceful, open air and very beautiful views! I love the pool because I love swimming so much and I love how pretty the water is and how warm the water feels when you get in. I also love the restaurant because they cook delicious meals for breakfast lunch and dinner and the beautiful sunset and sunrise over the ocean and in the evening you can enjoy the stars it sometimes even rains round the shelter I love the noise of it. Aimone is so nice and organises trips for example he went to pancake island with me and we went snorkelling and saw some really beautiful fish and we walked along the beach and we saw some turtle tracks and Aimone even cooked us some breakfast on the campfire!

This place is unique. It‘s located up the hill and a 10min drive to town. The view is awesome. The whole area has a very nice vibe. The lodge is created with a lot of thought and we really appreciated the eco-friendliness. It‘s super clean, has a very nice pool area and the staff is also super friendly. There is free water to reduce plastic waste and the food served is made out of local or even homegrown produce. We had dinner once and Aimone the owner created a lovely meal. Also breakfast was always great. There is a lot of felxibility and getting a vegan breakfast was no issue at all. Aimone created a truly amazing place! Thanks again for all the recommendations. You made our stay on Rote very special.

The accommodation utopia was simply fantastic. The room was clean and beautiful and was also cleaned and tidy every day. In addition, there was a very calm and relaxing atmosphere and the staff was always polite and in a good mood. Aimone also took care of us more than well and did many trips with us, such as to the mangroves. Considering the surf, Aimone is an amazing guide of all the surrounding waves and let’s you know where you should go. I could go on and on but would rather suggest you experience it yourself. Overall, we really enjoyed our time on Roti island and we will definitely come back!

Utopia is a true gem. This was my second stay here and again this place never ceases to amaze me. The food is healthy and delicious. The room we stayed in was a dream: a bit of wild Africa and Indo vibes together. Aimone is the best host, always showing us spots to chill/surf or for an adventure. <3 we'll be surely back in this dream place

Incredible host who took care of us from start (before we even arrived) to finish. The view was a highlight - we were able to see surf conditions at a few breaks and enjoy serene quiet and fresh air each night. Food was amazing and great value.

Truly beautiful place with views in very good location close to beach and village center. Quiet, clean and surrounded by nature. It’s my second time in this place and pretty sure not the last one 😊

Utopia is so beautifully designed, working with the natural environment. The ocean view is stunning and the owner and staff are super friendly. I would totally recommend Utopia!
