It was good for a night before flying out from Sorong. Really friendly staff and super friendly owner who communicated with us via WhatsApp and was very helpful. We could organise a pickup from the Harbor beforehand which really made our lives easier.

- the bathroom sink was really dirty (hairs) and the water smelled very bad and had a strange colour. Didn’t feel clean so we didn’t take a shower. - it’s really far outside (but grab is always available). - it gives you a strange feeling when there’s barbed wire around the building, a lock at the gate and a sign in the room asking you to lock your door twice when inside. I know it’s probably just a precaution but it made us feel like we were staying in an unsafe neighbourhood, which I otherwise wouldn’t have thought.

Adelia, the owner, is such a nice and helpful person. She can arrange pick-up from and to the ferry or airport. All went smooth. The room is nice for a rest after or before going to the islands, it was already cooled down when I arrived. I appreciated using the washing machine for a small fee and the kitchen as well with possibilities to store some things in the fridge too. There is free water and coffee and even creamer for the coffee.

The room could use some renovation soon, and the kitchen could have been cleaner. But for the money and what I needed after two weeks on the remote islands, it was super!

The staff here are extremely helpful. I felt very well looked after and welcomed like part of the family. The location is perfect for an overnight stay either before or after your flight/ ferry. Adel also helped me arrange a taxi from the airport to the ferry when I arrived, as well as from the ferry to the homestay and then back to the airport! There were several other guests doing the same itinerary, so she linked us up so we could all share the cost of the taxi too! There are a lot of guys touting for taxis at the airport & ferry terminal so I felt in much safer hands having pre arranged this for the same cost. Note if you’re taking the 9am ferry, the office doesn’t open until 7am and they don’t sell tickets until 8am. A local also mentioned that waiting outside the ferry terminal is not particularly safe! Adel also helped me when my Grab Food delivery driver had issues. She calmly spoke with him on the phone and directed him to the homestay. I would 100% stay here again and recommend this place for any solo travellers coming to Sorong.

Don’t forget your mosquito spray. They weren’t an issue at this property, but worth having some on hand.

This was my 2nd stay with Adel at Rumah Marianne and I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. She's the best! Last year, my cell phone hadn't been working for some time in my travels through Raja Ampat when I arrived back in Sorong. I was frantic and she immediately took me to a nearby phone repair shop who determined, with her language translation help, that I just needed a new charger. I was so thankful then for her assistance. This stay she arranged a taxi pickup for me at the ferry from Waisai with photos of the driver and his car's location to avoid the usual mayhem at the dock. The price was the usual fare and the taxi driver arranged to take me to the airport the next morning. Adel truly cares about her guests' comfort. She is in the process of adding a restaurant which will be a welcome addition. She has a convenient kitchen as well which is available for guest use. Thanks again, Adel, for making me feel at home away from home! Looking forward to my next visit...

There was nothing.

I stayed here recently before and after trip to RA islands. Rooms are basic but very clean and have everything you need for a good, comfortable stay. Everything in room was in good working order and the communal kitchen had free tea and coffee. What I really enjoyed about my stay is the very friendly attitude and dedication from the lovely hosts Adele and Ria who made me feel right at home before I even arrived! They speak perfect English which made communication very easy and they contacted me straight after booking to give me all the information needed, arranged airport and harbor transfers and even picked me up from ferry port at very short notice! I really enjoyed their company and they didn't mind answering my many questions about life in W.Papua , providing me with useful info for my next trip. When that time comes, I will certainly stay at Rumah Marianne again and would highly recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a good, simple, value for money place with excellent hosts! Can't wait to come back and maybe stay a bit longer in Sorong

Nothing, everything was perfect for me!

Good AC, free drinking water, tea and coffee, good communication. The bed was comfortable and the wifi worked well.

The pillows smelt of other people even tough they looked clean. When the hotel owner came and asked if everything was ok, we asked for fresh pillow cases. The room service lady took our pillows and brought them back soon after. We were not sure if she changed the cases or just sprayed them with perfume though. We could still smell other people over the perfume. Maybe it was just the pillows themselves.

I enjoyed to say at Rumah Marianne hotel very much. The rooms are clean, and equipped with AC., but the treasure of the place is it’s owner Adelie who cares about guests with the heart ❤️ and provides all the informations you need to enjoy Sorong in very organised way (link or QRcode). So I really didn’t feel there as a client but more as the guest 🙏🏻🌞. Also Adelie offers the transport from or to the airport (or port) for a reasonable fee. There is also a very good local restaurant serving the sea food located in walkable distance from hotel. You can also check the other’s opinions about Rumah Marianne at Booking - in fact I chose this hotel in based of them, and I was happy about it. I also recommend this hotel to other tourists, and all of them, as far as I know liked it 😀

There is no warm water. Breakfast is no included and the hotel, however guests have free access to the kitchen and prepare any meal there (or use the fridge). The hotel is located in area a bit remote from the centre, but it doesn’t need to be the problem if ones rent a motorbike or install Gojack app which allows to order the cab 😉

Great value for money in Sorong. Adelia the owner is very nice and gave us a list of the most useful places in the city. She also helps to organize transfers from/to the harbor or the airport. The place is comfortable, quiet and with good ac. Free drinking water and coffee also. If you are going to Raja Ampat you will most likely have the opportunity to catch up with other guests, as happened to us

Only the location, a bit far from most places but you can reach the main street in 15min walking and go to restaurants from there.

Super helpful, as other reviews mention. Seamless collection from ferry and excellent airport taxi (on time). Smashing little website link supplied with restaurant tips etc. Had really great food at Bubur Manado! Highly recommend! Felt secure at the property. Caretaker onsite too. Did some washing. Comfy bed. Room small but not minescule, but clean and nice to be in different type of placenta hotel. Had a walk around the local area and interacted with the kids. Made my Sorong stay very interesting. Samday cafe about 800m walk away does a decent soup bowl. Thanks Adele.

Nothing really. A bit of neighbourhood noise but that’s the Indonesian way. I had music blasting last time i was at Belhotel. This was a lot cheaper and more fun. I’ve started using smaller places sometimes and its often more interesting and eyeopening. You can usually get a fair idea from the reviews.(always like a good number of reviews, a handful are useless as indicators.). Safe travels!

Rumah Marianne is the perfect option, if you're just in town for a few days. It's clean, you can wash your laundry and use the shared kitchen. The room is clean and has everything basic, that you need (comfy and clean bed, AC, bathroom with hot water. The hostess was very friendly and accomodating. Thanks!!

You have to know that this homestay is a bit further from town. But you can still order food online and let it be delivered, so that didn't bother me. :)
