The breakfast was very good - it included some dishes prepared hot at the table, as well as a buffet bar. The dinner was good, too. The location was excellent - within a 25 minute walk from the ferry terminal, or a short taxi ride. There was also a bus, but the bus schedule was rather infrequent. The staff at the hotel went above and beyond to help us find meals and get to Yakusugi Land, which was our destination. The twin room with ocean view was spacious, beautiful, and very comfortable (including the beds). The common Japanese bath was very clean.

As American tourists, we would have been more comfortable with less attention from the waitstaff during meals. I know that in Japan it's considered polite to be very attentive, but we would have preferred a little more privacy and a little less attention. That said, the waitstaff were all incredibly kind and helpful.

This hotel offers spacious room and excellent sea view from the hotel room. It is a more traditional hotel which has many hotel amenities such as dining hall, public bath, massage chair and souvenir shops. It was quite an interesting experience as I always wanted to stay at one of these more traditional hotels, the amenities are also useful as there is not much activities on Yakushima at night. Staffs at this hotels are also friendly and helpful. I would consider to stay at this hotel again if I happen to go Yakushima again.

The hotel is located slightly further from main business straight of Anbo, thus requires some walking for dining and grocery. This hotel is also a slightly more expensive accommodation option on the island.

The staffs were willing to help and explain everything until you understand. But communication in English might be difficult. Kaiseiki meal for dinner was good and could complete your day nicely after a day-long hike. Also the bento boxes prepared by the hotel were really good and worth for money. They were very convenient if you had to go out super early in the morning like at 4 am. In addition, soap, shampoo and conditioner were very fragrant.

Breakfast was small in variety. The bed was not comfortable.

We enjoyed a beautiful ocean view from the room. - Excellent and free parking facilities on a spacious parking lot at the property

- The restaurant isn't the most cozy place and restaurant options in the vicinity are limited

I loved my ocean-facing room with western beds and tatami sitting area, the barley tea they leave for you in the mini fridge was such a nice touch and so lovely after a long day’s hike, the breakfasts were pretty good, and I liked that they wanted to know where I was going each day to make sure I did not disappear on one of the mountains.

Although all the staff were very nice, no one at the front desk spoke English. This is not unexpected for Japan though and we got by just fine with translation devices and Google Translate.

The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful with providing suggestions for places to eat (I didn't book the hotel dinner beforehand), and just in general getting around. Breakfast- which I did order was great, and I also used their offer of onigiri lunches to take hiking and they hit the spot. The hotel gift shop and surrounding wood art was also amazing to look at.

The view from the room was beautiful. There were massage chairs on the ground floor as well as a bath that helped after long hikes

2 of the 4 of our party left a day before the rest of us. They emailed me while I was out hiking saying the had a hard time communicating with the staff upon their departure. When I returned, the staff asked me to confirm how many people were staying that night. I told them 2. They replied that they had already laid out bedding for four people so they would have to charge us for 4 not 2. Even if there was a failure on our end to communicate this effectively, the explanation that they had no choice but to charge for 4 people was contrived and reflected poorly in my mind on the hotel. I was spending over 10k yen there; I don’t need to be “nickled and dimed.”

front house attendants are super helpful and friendly. I was so lost when I found out bus services is so little and rent a car is the best way going around the island, by the time I found out this, I was already in the hotel checking in, the girl who helped me the check-in was so helpful that she called the rent-a-car company for me(since I can't speak Japanese) and arranged the rental car to be driven just in front of the hotel, so that I don't have to call taxi to go back and forth to car rental company, isn't she so helpful?! Moreover, she also introduced all the areas, routes, sight seeing places to me which she doesn't have to do it, but she did, I felt like I am taking care of and it felt so good as a alone traveler. The room is spacious, room service is superb, places are clean. Too bad my room is not sea view and I want to eat in the lounge where I can enjoy the sea view but it's closed due to COVID and it's understandable. the view from the hotel area is very good with nice sea view. One more thing I should say is their helpfulness, I need sewing box, they lend it to me, I need adapter, they lend it to me. All in all, you ask and they will fulfill your request to their best.

the location is not very convenient, though it's like 5 mins drive from port to hotel, but taxi is hard to find. bus service is so not frequent. and there are only 1 restaurant near the hotel, there is not convenient store nearby. of course, after I rented a car, it's convenient for me to go anywhere around the island. The wifi is not working very well and a bit slow

View to the mountains from my room was cool! The room was so spacious and comfy too! Friendly staff, super good bento for your hiking prepared by the staff (order day before).

If you stay here, would be better if you have a car! Seems to be near from exits to main hiking trails. It’s near from Anbo Port and you need a 15-20 min walk to get to the Hotel. But you can enjoy the view in your walk as well.

I liked the location because it was convenient to three different hiking areas. I had a sea view room which was clean and comfortable. The nightly dinners allowed me to sample many Japanese delicacies. Staff adapted well to my minimal Japanese language skills and were helpful in areas I needed help. There was good parking space for my rental car and it was convenient to a grocery store.
