An oasis just off the main Mombasa to Nairobi road. Beautifully kept, wonderful birds and crickets. Enormous swimming pool. Incredibly good value. A gem of a place.

Breakfast was fine, not stellar, but hotel ratings always ask whether everything was stellar - forgetting that some places are cheaper than others. It was very very good value - best place we stayed and mostly about a quarter the cost of other places, and much better facilities. It is a gem of a find. I don't like that we are encouraged to find something wrong - this was almost perfect - and well well beyond what you'd expect for the price.

Great hotel, very nice pool, and a super great garden. In the garden I could watch monkeys, which impressed me as a European. Good food, very rich (sometimes too much of a good thing) Very friendly, attentive and helpful staff The location of the hotel is quiet. The rooms are with balcony and very big, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was also big (which I love) I visited the hotel again on my return trip. The value for money is really good It is really highly recommended

No air conditioning, but it wasn't really necessary in May

Very convenient as a night stop from Kilifi to Nairobi. Àn ideal stop, the food was very good, could have a yogurt option on the breakfast menu, mainly pastries and bread, so if you are gluten intolerant, a bit difficult. However we had a delicious massage omelette and fruit.

Generally the hotel is good, clean and easily accessible.The staff were very courteous, friendly helpful and responsive. The food was very delicious and fresh, we opted to order the family meals and these came in large portions.

The swimming pool was under maintenance so we did not get to swim. Other than swimming and fishing there were no other activities.

The room. Spacious, high ceilings, nice bathroom, big balcony, delightful gardens. Good mosquito nets. The food. Super fish. Good portions (and ugali). The staff. Courteous. Informative. Kind.

Ubiquitous TV. You don't need TVs in the dining room in such a smart lodge.

The hotel was better than we expected. We found the staff to be fantastic, especially the front office team. The environment was quite with nice clear, water ponds where you could fish. Very well maintained. Food was very good too. Will be our go to spot when driving to/from Mombasa.

Ridiculous doors to bedroom bathroom which provide no privacy and allow direct sight from the bed to the toilet. Truly shocking - noone wants that view. Ants all over the patio and in the rooms

Food is too expensive and not good. They served us uncooked Sausages. The breakfast is not one of the best. The chips was too expensive and not well cooked. My child ended up having stomach problems. The breakfast need some attention. I enjoyed their Choma though. The tv in the room didn't seem to work. I didn't like it either.

We had a very nice stay here, very big grounds with nice gardens. All the staff were very, attentive, friendly and helpful. We felt very comfortable here.

WiFi was weak in our room. Not a massive problem but something to be aware of if like us you need to do some work. Breakfast was a an "English" type cooked breakfast along with croissants, toast and fruit. It was plentiful, served quickly with a choice of inside or outside tables. Unfortunately it wasn't that great and wasn't very warm.

The gardens of Hunter's Lodge are awesome: So many monkeys running around, climbing in the trees, goliath herons close to the pond, a beautifully designed pool area, a spacious room and bathroom, a comfy bed. The staff is very friendly, the food good, English cooked breakfast...Very good value for money.
