Le Cheval Blanc is a beautiful 17th Century riad which was the former home of the town mayor, now beautifully restored into 7 nicely appointed rooms. Much of the original stonework, including central atrium columns and arches around the doors, has been re-exposed. It is run by a dedicated staff. From its roof where one eats one’s delicious breakfast, the Riad has 360 degree views of the surrounding old medina and port of Safi. Safi is an authentic Moroccan town off the tourist trail but of central importance to those interested in Moroccan ceramics. It also has architectural evidence of the 15th century Portuguese occupation. Highly recommended

Awesome little hotel located in one of the side streets of the old Medina of Safi. Good quality of everything, nice beds, clean rooms, lovely décor. We had breakfast on the rooftop - a good one, plus an amazing view across the city centre and over the sea. If you're ever in town - do consider staying here.

WiFi was functioning well in some areas, but still was quite limited. There was no hairdryer in the room for what I remember.

The woman who prepared the breakfast was so kind and helpful. She was not the receptionist but she was my receptionist because there was no receptionist when I arrived at the riad. She tried to solve all the matter . Even though she can't speak English but she explained and helped me with body language and tried to give all information about riad and my room as much as she can. Ahra? Ahran? I am sorry. I can't remember her name exactly. She is the true jewel of this riad. Thank you so much

The Riad is very old (300+ years) and absolutely authentic. Nothing has been structurally altered. Very clean and well maintained (despite its obvious age). The staff as usual are so nice and helpful. Breakfast up on the terrace is wonderful. Rooms are very comfortable. The house is steeped in history and a sensory delight. Safi is not a big tourist town, it is old and real Morocco.

We arrived late from Rabat so was a bit of a shock to look for the Riad up a small and very old alleyway. All part of the experience.

Authentic Riad, amazingly decorating. Nice views from the roof tarase. Good food.

It was cold as we were there in winter, and they do not warm it up. It is not a complaint as this is the way the things are in Morocco, just to stress that you need to be prepared for low temperatures in and out during winter months.

Wonderful riad. The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. Amazing breakfast and dinner provided by the wonderful mama there. Immaculately clean bedroom and bathroom. The decorations are phenomenal. So much attention to detail and extremely tastefully decorated in the Moroccan style. A true gem in Safi. Excellent location. Perfect place.

Beautiful Riad with top balcony looking down the ocean, great place to look at the sunset. The room size was good and had shared space on each floor that we could use to relax with the teens.

Nothing ... the building looked like one with lots of history but we were not giving the explanation on what it use to be ... not major but the history buff in me would have liked that !

Thanks for the lovely reception and the very informative info provided throughout the stay. Right from the beginning, even before booking, all my questions were answered perfectly and very fast. Parking was close to the Riad, and the guard helped with the luggage and led us to the Riad, which is a bit hidden from the main path through the medina. The Riad is very nice and clean, with a good breakfast served upstairs on the terrace with view to the sea - guess you can enjoy nice sunsets there when the weather is right. The owner (speaking excellent English!) and all staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made our short stay very enjoyable. The city itself is pleasently non-touristic, offering beautiful local pottery in the market, and you can see the potters and painters at work nearby producing the lovely traditional and modern ceramics. All in all, Safi and the Riad Le Cheval Blanc are well recommended for a stay between Essaouira and Casablanca.

The staff here were welcoming and very nice. The meals prepared by madam were just delicious. We had the best tagine in Morocco in the hotel's restaurant. The location is great, right in the medina. This is a great place to stay.

Initially, it's a bit tricky to find. Fortunately, the locals were very happy to point us in the right direction. The mattress was exceptionally firm, so not particularly comfortable - we took the extra blankets and put them under the bottom sheet for extra padding which was OK.
