Everything. The lodge exceeded our expectations and catered to our every need. The breakfast was great, dinner exceptional and the personal touch from Mister Philip and his crew made our stay extremely enjoyable. Even the Sundowner and Bushman tour with Beritus were fantastic. I would recommend everyone who can or wants to enjoy the Kalahari to stay at the Zebra Lodge.

Very nice rooms with stylish furniture. Great sunset views! Cool bar. Good food at dinners with outdoor sitting and very pretty views.

Wild bees!!! This was bad! They live by the pool right next to the restaurant. They do bother you a lot during the breakfast, roaming just everywhere around and in your food. This was unfortunate as we could not enjoy the food and swim. The pool was not very clean but probably it is hard to maintain it in the desert. They have quads for rent which is nice. But children under 16 are not allowed to ride it. It was a disappointment. Curtains over the bed window were very light, making you to wake up with the first ray of sunrise light.

Our Waitress, the barman, and the manager were all exceptionally friendly, and the zebra who loved a pat was amazing. The massage was wonderful, we felt very pampered. the food is delicious. the rooms were lovely, fabulous place to stay.

Absolutely nothing

The Bushman Walk and also the Afternoon Drive with Chamberlin were really great. Chamberlin explained everything wonderfully and we learned a lot and also saw many animals. Also the masssage was really good and professional.

The rooms were very far from the main lodge, which is basically good, but the path through the hot sand was a bit difficult and the lighting right in front of our room did not work. When we arrived, we found the room not particularly clean, but the day afterwards it was better cleaned. Unfortunately, the service in the lodge was not good. The was hardly an employee at the bar which made it difficult to order drinks. When I did the booking, I stated that I cannot eat gluten. The Lodge responded that it is no problem to provide glutenfree options. Unfortunately, the waitress often gave me the normal meal and only after asking I found out, that this meals are not glutenfree and the glutenfree options are still in the kitchen. So obviously it is no problem to provide gluten free meals however it is not easy to also get those meals. Overall, we were unfortunately not convinced of the food. We had hoped for more for the price.

We had such a bad experience that we decided to leave a day early and were hence forced to find alternate accommodation. This lodge is filled with islands of staff with their own underhand agendas. We experienced extreme passive aggressive behaviour from the front desk staff and waitrons. When we complained at our one-day-early check out, no manager could be located. The food was poor. Breakfast was a very low standard and dinners were over cooked and lacked flair. Our room was a mosquito breeding colony which made sleeping impossible. The anti-mosquito spray didn’t work and the three of us were bitten even in our faces. Beware also if you are visiting from a nature-lover perspective that hunting does take place on the farm for the lodge’s consumption apparently. All in all we would certainly not recommend Zebra lodge or the sister lodge for South Africans who travel a lot.
