Review We had such a wonderful stay at Ashcott Homestead. The house itself is absolutely beautiful - elegant, full of character, and steeped in amazing history. Our room was spacious with a super comfy bed that made it hard to leave in the morning! The farm surroundings are stunning and peaceful, and we loved waking up to the sound of birds and the sight of rolling green paddocks. The friendly dogs were an added treat, so sweet and welcoming. Our hosts were absolutely amazing - warm, generous, and full of great stories about the history of the house. Breakfast was delicious, fresh, and nicely presented. It felt like a real country escape, but with all the comforts of home. We’d love to come back and stay longer next time. Highly recommended!

Location close to our family members wedding venue. The grounds were lovely and so peaceful. Inside we felt like we had stepped back in time to an old English area. All rooms were comfy with added touches of chocolates and water. Even sanitiser. The bathrooms were very clean and lived how John & Giovanni thought of make up flannels that were dark so not to stain the pristine white towels. The breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious with an array of cereals as well. We felt very spoilt in their grand setting of the dining room. Everything was done to make us feel right at home and very hospitable.

The homestead was full of charm and had a nice atmosphere with lots of decor details to look at. We stayed in the charming smaller bedroom called Sunrise and had a smaller bathroom next door. The room had a good heater and electric blanket, so we were nice and toasty quickly. The breakfast in the morning was the highlight. A lot of choice on cereals and the cooked breakfast was tasty and really nicely presented and all cutlery and china were immaculate. We felt like lord and lady of the manner sitting at our large dining room table. The house is nice and clean. Thank you for a lovely stay.

There were a few narrow steps to navigate down/up to the bathroom which was fine for us but may not be for others. I think it was only the Sunrise bathroom though.

While you are sharing in a large guest house, there is a good degree of privacy. The owners have delightfully furnished the property with some lovely period furniture (real and copies) so you are left to drift back into a time when grand living was special. And the owners help to meet that expectation. Breakfast was a delight, not over sumptuous but perfectly adequate. John serves a lovely omelette with the associated old world charm of a country home. He must love dusting because there was a plethora of things to look after.

Cant think of anything significant. Perhaps there could be a market for some dinner catering to add to the overall experience. Cant say I enjoy the lure of a typical pub meal down the road from Ashcott.

Beautiful historic homestead in nice rural setting, the owners have an eclectic collection of antiques and collectibles and these are displayed and in use right throughout the homestead. Exceptionally comfortable bedroom and bed. Peaceful location, lovely breakfast in the formal dining room with other guests around the table. Every comfort provided, with a wide range of teas, coffee and even a few treats available just outside your room. Wonderfully welcoming.

Gate into the property, as no cattle stop on driveway, however most people would find this a minor inconvenience. Would have preferred real coffee (to pod coffee) at breakfast, again a minor detail only. Thank you and will definitely stay again.

Beautiful Historic Homestead. It is an experience, not just a place to stay. Breakfast was delicious. Hosts are welcoming and friendly but professional and discrete at the same time. Loved it the first time, loved it the second time, and will certainly be back again. Thank you, John and Giovanni.

Beautiful and cosy homestead, room was comfortable and we had our own walkout balcony, own bathroom and bed was super comfy. Giovanni welcomed us with friendliness and warmth and provided us with everything we needed. Didn’t get to meet John but he was super easy to deal with via email and kept us updated. What a great history filled place! Grand old historical homestead about 15 kms from Waipukurau. Quite a special place. Excellent breakfast in sun-filled room.

The location means that it is best to eat out for dinner before booking in - 15 minutes from local bars and restaurants.

- lovely warm welcome from Giovanni & John - the most exquisite rural setting, you can hear a pin drop - all rooms are beautifully individual, no corporate beige here. Lovely attention to detail, even chocolates for the guests in the room - the BEST omelette I have ever tasted on the cooked breakfast

Stunning period homestead just off route 50 close to route 2. The house is beautiful with amazing original features. We were made very welcome. We had a huge bedroom with sitting area off and tea & coffee station. We slept well in a very comfortable bed and enjoyed a fantastic cooked breakfast. Being an old house the rooms aren’t en-suite, warm dressing gowns are supplied to maintain modesty!
