This old classy building, formerly a bank, makes a perfect hotel and in spite of being as downtown as it gets, street noise is barely heard in the rooms, I think I've stayed at all floors since I travel to Haugesund with regular intervals for tattoo work. The staff is super nice, too bad they're only present at daytime.

No access for guests to a refridgerator or microwave is a very bad decision. A typical weekend guest needs at least the fridge to cool wine and/or food beverages. Hotel Banken should look into this matter prior to others.

Superior customer service even telephoning me on the day of my arrival to see what time I could be checking in at reception or I could have paid & checked in online from an SMS. I loved the use of codes at the front door & my room door much better than keys. In the reception/dining area their are recycling tubs for everything! And a blackboard to keep track of the guests food waste. All day while they last was a plate of croissants and another with fresh apples. As much tea & coffee as you desire in the dining room 24/7. Fabulous decor with the bank history and theme cleverly used with the ultra modern.

Good location. Rooms were small but comfortable. Classic building, excellent refurbishment. Good buffet breakfast (but food out of kitchen in very small amounts, had to compete for some).

No reception or visible staff, links to pre-pay not working very well. Tiny bathroom with small shower, could not even dress inside. Not easy to stop in front to put luggage out of car, very close public parking.

Nice location and the bank building really makes it something different.

It would be good to have different curtains in the room so the neighbors from the other side of the street can not look in, but you still get sunlight, especially in the bathroom.

Central hotel

This is a smart hotel so there are no staff and everything is done over the Internet so if you are not Internet savi you will have trouble as l did and l would suggest you look at a hotel that has a reception.

Good location, near center and quay. Room was not big, but comfy. There's a terrace which you can visit during the day. Enter system use codes, you can't lose card it worked well. Good breakfast, contained not only basic dishes. While check out, we were need to leave luggage for a while, administrator checked the system and allowed us to leave it in our room, where we collected it later.

No any thing. Just TV didn't work, which for us was not critical and we didn't ask administration.

Nice location in the heart of the city with good restaurants in a couple of minutes' walk. Comfy double bed in an attic room with great cross ventilation.

Finding nearby parking was tricky and figuring out how to use the payment system when everything was explained in Norwegian was even trickier. We waited for someone to show up to pay for their car and asked him how to use the system. Staff we can explain it would take a lot of stress off guests.

Location and breakfast

Nothing much. There is no staff when you arrive at the hotel, and you only get a code to the front door when your room is ready so not ideal if you arrive a bit earlier than the check in time stated if you want to drop your bag off.

No satalite tv as stated in booking....room a bit small for double occupancy but good enough for a single person

Tasty, pretty standard breakfast, good coffee. Freshly baked goods were tasty, standard scrambled eggs, nice fruits, apple and orange juice.
