Location, breakfast and the breakfast staff . Hotel manager was understanding and accomodating with issues we had there.

This is a high priced hotel, the location is absolutely wow with being on the beach front, however the rooms were not that of a 5 star hotel, no complementary water supplied upon checking into our room, toilet paper is cheap, not of a quality. The bath shower towels where white all stained disgraceful for a high end priced hotel. There is a beach car Cafe that closes in the afternoon crazy and it's obvious the owner who is from Venezuela does not care with a customer attentive experience to enjoy, in the end a standard of the hotel falls of the owner lack of investment to set high end standards its apprant this is not a passion to the owner no soul no heart no warm fuzzy feeling its a shame this hotel desires an owner who loves it and cares about the customer experience stay.

The restaurant, bar, lobby and front desk are all open air, so you feel the beachfront experience as soon as you set foot on the property. Thats a plus in my mind versus a sealed off, over air conditioned meat locker you find in much of Panama and the tropics. Fans and AC in rooms offer individual comfort settings. We apprecaited the variety of room types, several one of a kind. Book early because the coolest rooms weren't available, but our "Ocean View" was nice for 2 nights. It was closest to the lobby so we heard some background noise at times, but not enough to be disruptive anytime. It looks like Garden Rooms may have been recently renovated from the exterior. Photos on the website look a little dreary, but they may not have been updated. You could have breakfast, lunch and dinner on the property if you want. But there are other good places close by. It a small island - everything is close. The cabana bar on the beach serves drinks and food from the main restaurant. Staff were consistantly great, but Erica went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and spoiled. If you don't fly in (which can be as cheap as the ferry) you are at the mercy of one daily arrival and departure, but they work with you to hold or bags. We were lucky to have our room ready when we arrived around 10, but they can't guarantee it. We weren't sure how we'd get the short distance from the dock to the resort, but there were golf carts waiting for their guests.

It would be hard to improve. Its the right scale, with enough amenitiy at a good price. Contadora doesn't offer enough variety to a longer stay, but as expected kept us more than happy for a few days and showed us a different side of Panama on our first trip.

It’s right on the ocean, complete with an oceanfront bar/restaurant. We got a room with a balcony with an oceanfront view, which was amazing. The staff were very helpful, the food was quite delicious. It’s not a new building, but it is well-maintained, and I like that this is not a large property, the casual atmosphere allowed us to strike up conversations with other guests. We had an amazing time. Air conditioning, hot water, etc, everything worked well.

We really loved it, I can’t say anything negative about them.

Amazing location next to a splendid beach, friendly staff, room was very clean and spacious, beach towels were provided for free, and we even saw whales from the restaurant terrace

AC in our room was quite loud, service in the restaurant was rather slow (though who cares with a view like this...). We loved our stay but my main criticism is the price - we paid over EUR 230 per night, which in my opinion is too much for the quality of the facilities - while the hotel is nice, it could do with a bit of an upgrade as some parts are getting a bit old. For this price, I would have expected a more luxurious experience.

Extremely quiet and secluded. Contadora Island has very little on it, there are no restaurants, cafes or shops, just a few boutique hotels and lots of magnificent private villas for Panama City's high net worth crowd. For a few days of relaxing, boat watching and lying on an uncrowded beach with other adults it's bliss. Private beach, and gorgeous views of the sea and coastline. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly

The sea-view room was a little basic. No bedside tables or sidelights meant that reading in bed required the main over-head room light, which was jarring, and a glass of water by the bed had to be put on the floor.

Helpful and super friendly staff. They greet you at the door and explain how everything works. Breakfast was wonderful everyday. Our room was kept cleaned and our towels changed daily. Plenty of toiletries. The beach was amazing as well. They have a bar and food service downstairs by the beach. They close at 5 pm. They also provide beach towels, chairs and umbrellas for guests. Golf carts are available to rent by the hour or daily so you can tour the island on your own. The island is very walkable as well. Contadora is a beautiful place to visit. We had the opportunity to go to three of their beaches and they were all gorgeous. We enjoyed our stay very much!

The only suggestion I would make is that they inform their guests that there’s really nothing much to do after sunset. There’s no light by the beach or in the terraces at night. Most of the activities there happen during the day and it is really just a place to relax and enjoy their beautiful beaches, snorkel or take day trips to their many smaller islands. In Panama pretty much everywhere sunrise is around 6:30 am and sunset around 6:30-7 pm. Also, beware that prices on the island for food, drinks and anything else are twice as much as on the mainland, so be prepared to spend a lot more for meals, etc. Overall the beauty of Contadora and the stay at Mar y Oro is well worth the price.

Best beach & water is wonderful. Also close to ferry & airstrip. Service was good and food good. Room comfortable & bathroom spacious. Housekeeping was very good.

Day trippers made the beach a bit crowded and there were kind of unfinished work projects all over the place as well as some debris so aesthetically, not the most pleasing.

This hotel is optimally located on the best beach with water taxis and tours departing and returning right from the hotel. The beach was clean with some covered areas and lounge chairs. The view from the room looked out at the beach and had a small porch. It is nice there is a restaurant & bar and covered outdoor sitting area for people to enjoy and get a cold drink while waiting for their room check-in or after check-out before the ferry arrives. The hotel had ATV pick-up and drop-off at the ferry station for no charge. The staff here is very accommodating with great attitudes.

The facilities could be a bit more about luxury, but given the location I understand that is a challenge. The beach can be overcrowded on a Sunday with yachts parked offshore getting supplies and enjoying the beach but that makes for a fun environment. The bathroom had no AC and extremely basic. There is no AC at the restaurant or outdoor seating which could benefit from some misters to cool the air as it can get extremely hot. Offering kayaks or other water activities would be nice.

Do yourself a favor and get the terrace suite it is separate from the hotel and has amazing views and large terrace. Very rare to find a gem like this and sleep right on the ocean but in a king bed with A/C TV and huge windows and doors. Thank you Nancy, Erica, Freddy and Roy, you guys make a great team of 5-star service

We loved our stay. The place is very clean , they pick you up from the ferry dock, which saves you the money of renting a golf cart. The place is very charming with the island life vibe. Staff is kind and friendly. All was amazing! The beach under the hotel gives you a feeling of a private beach although public. Very not crowded. Beach bar. Clean. Was absolutely perfect.
