The staff were exceptional. Chitkul is a remote village were raw materials are difficult and expensive to obtain. However, I have to give praise to Vikas who was on his feet from early morning till night to ensure everyone got what they ordered and Bipin, the chef who made food of a quality that can compete with most restaurants in a metro city. This is impressive given that there are almost no reliable non-vegetarian options around. Some tend to overcharge the tourists as well. The food at Zostel was reasonably priced.

There were frequent powercuts. In fact, there was no power for almost 2.5 days that we were there. This wouldn't have been a problem if we had access to hot water or a wifi network. Our phone networks were non-existent for 4 days and when the electricity was back, the wifi did not work reliably. Given that room heating was not provided and the electric kettle was non-operational, lack of access to hot water to drink or to have a shower became difficult. This was a problem given that we went trekking everyday and needed the hot water. But I did manage to squeeze in the hot water bath on almost all days by turning the geyser on for the 1-2 hours that the power was there. But ultimately, we were there for a digital detox and to be in nature. So, that was possible and we were happy for it.

The location is a 10/10, great social vibes and very helpful staff. The facilities were good. They had good wifi , heating and a common area. The mountain views are amazing.

I had a horrible experience checking in to this other hostel named 'LAPS wander stay'.... please don't be mislead by the reviews or price and go there...they don't have proper water or heating...the staff behaviour is pathetic. After that experience I came to zostel and they helped me have a great time.

The location was great and the best part was being present their at the time of snowfall made it more attractive. All staff members were good and the breakfast, snacks, tea n coffee everything was great. I really wanted to stay more but weather conditions weren't favorable.

There's nothing bad about the place or property. the only this concerning is the weather as if you are travelling during winters or snow time then keep a backup vehicle (this is for riders).

You can find many places to stay in chitkul but this is the only place with a social environment. There's rooms, dorms and tents, a common room with games. And this is the best place to eat, even for foreigners, compared to other places which are just average. I'd say this is the best spot to stay in chitkul.

Not a complaint, but im 6'2" tall and the dorm bed was maybe 6' long, so found it difficult to sleep. Its not their fault its just something to keep in mind for tall people in dorm beds.

Place was good and cozy. The food was good Location is also great

The only problem was no network and there is no Wifi. We got wifi from the staff and lucky was very helpful Buy a Jio Postpaid sim before you visit to kaza or chitkul

The place is beautiful, peaceful and secluded. The rooms are clean and unique. This place adds colours to your life. I love the stay and the people. The staff was helpful and caring. They provide homely food, and the common room is where you meet new people and enjoy their company. Overall place is amazing and must be on your list ✔️
