We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel in Sumba. The style of the place is beautiful. Relaxed but thoughtfully designed, with lots of nice details. The garden is spacious and green, and the pool area is great for just switching off for a while. Our room was very clean, with a comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom that had good hot water. Simple things, but they really make a difference. We stayed for 7 nights and had plenty of time to try different dishes from the restaurant. Not only was the range of food good, but everything we had was genuinely tasty. The big sofa in the restaurant was also a nice touch, great for catching up on some work in a calm and comfortable setting. The location is perfect if you’re looking for a relaxing break. The local staff were friendly and always tried to help where they could, without being over the top. We also met the owner, who was generous with local tips and recommendations, which made exploring the area even better. Considering the atmosphere, the quality, and the service, the price was very fair – especially compared to other options in the area. Definitely a place we’d be happy to come back to.

A very enjoyable stay at Rua Beach Resort Sumba. The hotel is located right by the beach, with a pool and a restaurant, making it perfect for relaxation. The price is absolutely fair for the quality of services provided. Contrary to previous comments, we didn’t miss having constant internet access or Netflix – this place is designed to disconnect from everyday life, not to spend time in front of screens. The resort is an excellent base for exploring the beautiful nearby beaches. If someone is looking for luxury at $2000 per night, they should look elsewhere. Rua Beach Resort is a place worth recommending, full of peace, nature, and a unique atmosphere that’s hard to find in crowded resorts. We wholeheartedly recommend it! Everything is well done and maintained with a quality above average especially for the price you pay (Sumba is generally expensive probably for the influence of NiHi)

The personnel speaks a very poor English which is ok in an Homestay but not in this kind of hotel. The only place to eat is the restaurant of the hotel, no other options around. This is ok if the menu would be available, unfortunately more than half of the items were not…. Moreover the preparation time is unreasonably slow for the number of guests, more than average long time we are used to in NTT.

My father and I enjoyed very much our stay in Rua hotel. We had a clean and spacious room facing the beach. We could hear the sound of the waves at night. The mattress is very comfortable, there is hot water with good pressure, and the AC works perfectly, although we did not used at night since it is not needed. The hotel is in a quite area and has a nice swimming pool. The beach near by can be walked with low tide. The hotel is in a great location to explore the area around.

What we really liked is the hospitality in this resort. Ben helped us a lot with looking for nice locations to go to. The food was also really good. The owner is Italian so the pasta is on point. The room was clean with an excellent working AC (pretty special when in Indonesia if you ask me). The shower pressure and temperature were also perfect. Thank you and we hope to see you again!

Nice pools, nice restaurant, nice bungalows and comfortable.

Water pressure for shower is very low. And after a long day travel, a nice shower is usually a real relaxing need. Breakfast a bit basic.

Staff were nice but spoke little English. Food was very uninteresting apart from a couple of dishes on the menu. No alternative choices for restaurants close by.

We loved our stay at Rua. If you are after a beautiful quiet place to stay this is it. It's very reasonably priced for Sumba as there are very limited places to stay. It's situated right on a stunning quiet beach. There is WIFI, hot water and AWESOME food. They do all the normal delicious fresh Indonesian food but also genuine homemade pasta for a yummy treat. The building is a little aged but that is part of the beautiful beachy rustic charm of the place. We will be back for sure! Thank-you for looking after us so well.

Fantastic 3 days at this beach front resort. Very comfy room, delicious food and super friendly team around the manager Anna. Great address in Sumba for a relaxing vacation, walks on the beach and explorations of the area, such as waterfalls or surf spots nearby.
