Dong Van is one of the main stops on the Ha Giang Loop but if you want the option to walk into town after a short 15 minutes, but still avoid the thousands of 20 year old tourist, Plum Homestay is a great option. The entire facility is very quirky in a very positive way, with small bungalows that are very modern but still adorable with great views as well. It’s much more modern than most homestays in Ha Giang, so it was definitely a comfortable sleep.

It’s not really a Homestay, but more of a hotel so don’t expect to eat with a local tribal family like other places in Ha Giang, and the food is not quite as good as other places we stayed at in Northern Vietnam, but it was still adequate.

We stayed at this charming little hotel for one night, and it was such a lovely experience! The view from the bar was absolutely amazing, looking directly out at the majestic mountains—it was the perfect spot to relax and soak in the scenery. The cabins were a real standout, beautifully done up with fairy lights that gave them a magical, almost fairytale-like vibe. It felt so cozy and enchanting, especially at night. The location was great too—just a 5-minute walk to the centre of town, making it super convenient while still feeling peaceful and remote. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were spotless with the most comfortable bed—one of the best we’ve slept on during our travels. Breakfast was also a treat, with delicious food to start the day right. The shower uses an electric hot water system, which is common in this part of the world due to its remote location. It takes a little while to warm up, so just be prepared for that. Overall, it was such a clean, peaceful, and unique place to stay. We’d happily visit again!

The properties are beautiful. Great aircon, great internet, lovely views.

Very noisy, particularly at night. It’s like party-ville with karaoke coming at you from every angle. Great if that’s your thing! Its not really mine. I was asked about a hairdryer that had gone missing from my room on checking out (a few times - I definitely felt accused by staff). So I would recommend a better inventory check pre check in for customers as this left a bad taste in my mouth as I have never taken anything in my life and never would. I was also on motorbike with very little gear. A hairdryer would be my last consideration!

Unique property, large room and clean bathroom.

Hot water tank was quite small so showers got cold fast. Property wasn’t really walking distance to town but fine if you have a bike.

This is a beautiful Homestay with great views, good food and an incredibly caring staff! I ended up getting stuck in Dong Van due to a typhoon and roads being closed to get out. They had no issue extending my stay and checked on me frequently to make sure I was comfortable and okay. When the roads finally opened, they helped me get a bus out, I would absolutely stay here again and can't recommend them enough!

Plum was a beautiful little ‘homestay’ (more like a hotel!). It is right at the far end of town, however the walk is only 10 minutes into the heart of the town. We stayed in the garden bungalow and it was very nice. It had a fantastic view, the bed was comfy, air conditioning worked really well and it was very quiet at night time. The breakfast provided was superb!

Everything was great, the short road (300m) up to the homestay is probably the only downfall. I don’t know if it’s under construction or simply a bad road.

A very comfortable hotel in Dong Van. Definitely a step up from the backpacker hostels we had see(and stayed at) in other towns. Very comfortable room, nice bathroom with hot water. It was rainy when we were there and that caused the electricity to flicker with a corresponding wifi dropouts. But I think that mostly beyond their control. I'd stay here again.

Not much. The hotel is on a side street so not in the center of town but only about a block away. Lots of dining options within walking distance. Nice breakfast, they will also make pho if you request, it isn't on the breakfast buffet. The front door leaked a little in the rain, but overall lots to like an not much to disagree with.

Everything was perfectly nice. Staff were friendly. Food was nice (could have done with more veggie options). Room was very nice.

The ONLY negative we had was a few hairs in the bed which after years of travelling & staying here, there & everywhere is hardly a crime however it’s always a little ‘bleh’ and makes you think who slept there before you? Are they clean sheets? Is it just the maids hair & an unfortunate mistake? We’ll never know. All in all would DEFINITELY recommend a stay here. Breakfast included was yum with a nice selection

Cool accommodation, clean and good quiet location. Most comfortable bed I’ve slept in for a long time.

The heating wasn’t really working which made it pretty cold in the “tents”. I was thankful I brought my hot water bottle otherwise I probably would have asked to move to a more insulated room. I’m sure it would be lovely when it’s not so cold but it made hard to be comfortable while it felt so cold

Unique looking bungalows with a lot of windows, terrace with Mountain View, great location, clean, comfy, very pretty at night with all the fairy lights, plenty breakfast. Staff did not speak mich English but we managed. Great value for price. We would stay here again.

When it’s cold outside (we had ~9 degrees C) the a/c struggles to keep the room warm because it’s not well isolated, warm water only for a couple of minutes but it was enough.
