The welcome from the staff was fantastic. The place itself is not a new place but has bags of character - this is not a chain, but an old style hotel with great attention to detail and attentive staff. Check out the lounge and the collection of LPs if you have time after enjoying the onsen! We travelled with a dog, and they were more than welcoming (and had a access to a great dog run nearby), but we also like the fact that dogs weren't allowed in the shared spaces - lounge, breakfast room, etc.

This is a great palce. The neighbouring room was a bit noisy early in the morning (6 am), the walls of the bedrooms don't have great sound-proofing, and they got up early chatting, but that was the only negative.

Breakfast was delicious. The kashikiri onsen is a very nice feature. The lodge was not crowded on one of the coldest nights of the year, so we felt like we could use the onsen as long as we wanted without inconveniencing others.

We got a room that I guess allows pets (we did not travel with one). The room was full of the Keith Haring themed art on the walls, but overall the furnishing was not as nice as the room I had used on a previous visit. I guess I should not go for the least expensive room reservation ...

Loved our stay at Lodge Atelier. We only regret our only regret is not staying longer! The room was very clean, the bed is massive and the comfiest we had for our entire holiday in Japan. The staff were warm and welcoming, the location was great. An added bonus was the private Onsen, which was perfection and a welcome treat to recover from 5 days in Tokyo!

Nothing - everything was divine! We will be back.

This lodge is really clean and comfortable! They have a lot of nice antique furnitures and records at the common areas. Everything looks beautiful!! The room was big enough for 2 people. Onsen was awesome! My skin became smooth♨️ The people who are working there were awesome!! Friendly and thoughtful ✨✨ I love the lodge, 10/10!!!!

The stay made us feel so welcomed! We had the opportunity to listen to their jazz record collection and relaxed. They also picked us up from the station and sent us back when we checked out. It was a memorable experience

Location is a little further out and although the nearest restaurant is walkable by foot, do plan appropriately.

Our group of four stayed in the Log House at Lodge Atelier and it was really great! A genuine log cabin in a forest. We only stayed one night but wished we could have stayed longer. The check in process was smooth. Note that you'll need to know a bit of Japanese to get through it though. We then drove about 5 mins from the main hotel to the log house - it's great that the house is in a very private location, but also be warned that it's not a walkable distance from the main hotel, you'll need a car to stay here. The house was clean, well-equipped and just totally memorable! A really great night here. Beds were extremely comfortable. Free amenities also.

It wasn't an issue for us but I would say the Log House would be a challenge for anyone with accessibility issues - there are stairs on entry and a very steep set of stairs to get to the upper bedrooms if you need them (there are beds downstairs though). And as mentioned, you need a car to stay here and get around this area in general.

There is everything to like here. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The meals in the restaurant next door (same complex) were wonderful. The slow cooked beef was the best steak dish I have had in Japan. The staff here were also professional and friendly. English was no problem. I highly recommend staying here. We will be back!

Be nice to have black tea and small milk option in the room - but a suggestion only.

We loved the private onsen at no extra charge. This allowed my wife and I to enjoy it together, something we rarely get to do. We also appreciated that we could bring our dog, that the staff was so friendly, and that the room was so warm, especially since the temperature was cold (-7C one night).

As vegetarians, the dinner options weren't for us, but that was ok as there were lots of great, dog-friendly places to eat within a 10-minute drive.

Lodge Atelier is conveniently located across the road from the Keith Haring Museum. Their rate is a great deal. We were especially impressed by the property's cleanliness and their kind and responsive staff. We enjoyed hanging out in the cozy lounge and selecting records from their impressive collection of jazz records. There are two private onsen bathing areas accessible to guests 5am to midnight. This place is a gem, a great place to relax and recharge.

They have two nice indoor onsen (spa) for private family use. When not used they can be taken and reserved by turning a sign on the door. We enjoyed this a lot. This place allows for dogs, and they have nice outdoor area with fireplace. But even there are dogs, the place is spotlessly clean. There is a bar where we ordered whisky from the local distillery Hakushu. There they also have a very nice stereo equipment which allows for connecting through bluetooth and playing from your phone. The owner is a collector and the bar is decorated with a lot of old jazz records, and other collectable things. It creates a cozy and warm atmosphere. Dinner was not included, but there are a lot of restaurants a few minutes by car, and we found a great Italian, Marjoram, serving very tasty pasta and pizza.

Nothing.
