Saku Cafe was a whole new experience for us. Tucked in the beautiful town of Daigo, it was an apartment made of a bedroom with the bathroom and toilet outside the bedroom. The whole apartment was thoughtfully and sustainably designed and fully equipped with everything you may need. The decorations were clearly the personal collections of the owner-creator, Lems with a dial phone and comic books as examples. Star gazing is real at Saku Cafe and the breakfast is fantastic!

Be prepared that the property is not near a convenience store.

Nice ambience, very kind & polite staff, vegetarian food options, amidst nature at the same time close accessibility to town. The room we stayed in had an antique setup, which gave a nostalgic feeling. Was convenient with free car parking. The traditional Japanese breakfast (vegetarian) prepared and served was simply amazing. Special thanks for that.

If the wallpaper work in the room could be completed, it would look great.

Cafe with Nice ambience set on top of a slope. Japanese style Breakfast was simple but delicious freshly prepared in the Cafe kitchen. Shared bathroom and toilet conveniently located just outside of the room.

Futon mattress too thin. Pillow was more like the sit cushion.

The property is ideally located on the south-west facing bank of a gentle hill. The sunset is nice. This is a small town, so the train station is just minutes away (the slope gets steep, but nothing out of the ordinary). The food is delicious. Maybe their business as a cafe-restaurant is their core-business. Or it should be. The breakfast was delicious too. And the staff who delivered it was impeccable. He did not treat me as a foreigner, but as a customer.

There are two rooms. Mine had no window to speak of (one opacified window on the east side; the other, clear, facing some sort of shed on the north side). The drain in the shared bathroom was partially obfuscated, enough so that by the time enough water had flowed and I'd get hot water, the sink was half-full. Then it would take tens of seconds to fully clear away. The bathroom was, in general, not clean. In an insulting way, almost. Why would they leave their own unwashed clothes in some basket of the shared bathroom? Their own toothbrush? (they fixed that, at some point) The music. Too loud, too repetitive (it is a 3-4 hours loop), always the same kind of faux-retro, faux-french, bad music. The service was really unprofessional. I had to go to them anytime I wanted anything. I had to ponder whether I should go to them, or gesture to them, or call them, while seeing them laughing and conversing and being oh-so-very-polite-an-nice with their local customers. It's really annoying, when you know you can speak and understand Japanese because you've invested years of your time to get there, and Japanese people in a client facing position still treat you as a child or as some mentally ill person. The panic in their eye, I don't get it. So I would not recommend anyone who does not look and speak Japanese to stay there. Eating there is probably enjoyable for anyone, tough. But then, I'd also recommend Daigo Cafe, just minutes away, with a much more enjoyable atmosphere (albeit, inside).
