The views out to the sea were excellent and we did get see a bit of the local elusive crab life. The staff were friendly and exceptional helpful in organising a car and fixing up some discrepancies with the bill. The orientation trip on the first full day was excellent and really helpful in meeting a few of the other guests and getting an understanding of the island and its particular geographic features. Keith Sue and Lotte continued to provide useful updates and the Matavai also presents daily updates and suggestions. Particularly useful for finding what cafes are open and best times for swimming.

Areas for improvement could include a greater variety in the menus understanding the limited options of being on a remote island. I liked the chicken alarm clocks and hope to help in getting assistance from the Australian and or New Zealand governments in cleaning up the old derelict cars.

Niue was beautiful and Matavai as a resort exceed my expectation. View was breath taking, sleeping to the sound of crashing waves was just peace and holiday mode i needed. Breakfast was amazing, coconut bread and Niue honey to die for. Location was suitable to everything we did. Matavai and Niue is the reason we decided on a wedding location, absolutely dreamy.

Mosquitoes, but it's the islands and right next to the water so you can't avoid it. just needed more insect repellent packed in my luggage.

Views are awesome and lots to do . Very good information from the resort .Locals are very helpful and friendly . Recommend local tour when you first get there to get a very good outlay of where things are and a lot about what you can do. Excellent holiday and must be because we are going back.

Time at the airport on return but is understandable as there is only one flight each week . If you plan it there is time to do some other stuff.

breakfasts included in our rate were very good. Fruit, albeit canned, plus coconut, watermelon. Eggs, fish, hash browns and sausages. Toast [including GF], croisants, muffins and pikelets. Situation very good for viewing whales and dolphins. Good pool.

as there are not many cafes open on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, we ate at the resort and dinners were only average. 2 subsequent dinners were very good.

The views are fantastic! Staff is extremely nice. Check in and check out are down to a well oiled science. Pool is a lovely place to relax.

The kitchen leaves more to be desired. Full disclosure, the oven was broken while we were there (tough to replace in a remote island), however we ordered the catch of the day and prime sirloin one evening and both dishes were almost inedible… especially considering the high price, there’s way better food on the island.

Wifi in rooms is very unreliable Menu options- lack of vegetarian option and lack of healthier options, mainly burgers and pizzas. Suggested options, chickpea curry, bean salads, fried rice, quiches, toasted sandwiches

The view is simply awesome. Where else can you watch Whales and Dolphins from your room? Interior is modern, we like. :) Shuttle service from and to the airport is a big plus. Whenever we needed something, someone was there to help. An other big plus: There is a cooperation with the dive shop next door so that snorkelling gear is available at no extra cost. Fresh coconut for breakfast on some days. Fresh Paw paw on most.. :)

You will find food that is probably in line with the eastern diet, so burgers, a lot of fried food and a lot of meat. Also, food arrives once per week, maybe that’s why quite a bit of the fruits in the morning are canned goods. Vegans and vegetarians might want to look for alternative places to eat as there is only one vegetarian meal on the menu (+ some sides + fruit salad). We’d like to to propose more plant-based meals as they can be eaten by all (allergies aside). Also, we would like to propose more big glass containers instead of the little plastic ones (eg for shampoo or breakfast spreads) to safe plastic.

Stayed at the Apartment complex which is a couple of kilometres away from the main resort but resort facilities can be used. The Apartment complex has a small pool which is very adequate. Loved the sea view, quiet and uncrowded environment and self catering option of this alternative accommodation and would recommend.

Daily servicing adequate but limited eg floor not cleaned from any sand brought in and no broom to clean this up. Not a criticism but be aware, the daily servicing at the Apartment is not a five star service.

Loved the clifftop location with its spectacular views, especially at Happy Hour as the sun went down. The restaurant, though the food is variable, has a lovely tropical laid-back ambiance. Love the gardens and the walk to and from our rooms, filled with the fragrance of frangipane at night.

Lovely location, nice clean and spacious room. Small issues resolved efficiently. Continental breakfast included in room fee was a pleasant surprise. Happy hour was a great idea and we utilised this often. Manager was very friendly and responsive and the reception staff super helpful sorting our trips. thanks!

Be good to have salt and pepper on tables and nice to relocate the many roosters who don’t realise that 2,3,4 & 5 am isn’t dawn(lol)
