Okay place for staying when hiking Cilaos. Lots of homemade jam for breakfast.

We were told to call ten minutes before arrival but no one answered, and it took almost an hour for them to call us back. We can't recommend booking the dinner options as the food one of the places was overcooked and dry.

The property is very well located within Cilaos. Everything can be reached by foot. Case Nyala also has a very nice garden terrace with a view of the surrounding mountains. At breakfast there is a large choice of homemade jams (about 20 different kinds). The overall property is made up of several colourful creole houses.

Our room was number 4 which definitely has the best Wi-Fi, however the room is right next to the breakfast area. The bathroom window even opens into the breakfast room, so you cannot really open the bathroom window after showering. Instead you have to use a dehumidifier. That also means everybody’s has to pass the room to get to breakfast. It is therefore noisy and does not feel cozy. The room itself is ok, but is not really comfortable. There is no sofa or armchair to sit in. The lights in the room are also a little bit strange. There is for example no Main light, so it can feel a little dark at times. While the different jam varieties and also the bread/baguette at breakfast where really good, there was no savoury option at all, i.e. no cheese or meat. As our French was only passable, we also missed out on some informations which were only provided in French. E.g. on our last morning, the WiFi was down for sown reason and the guy from the Hotel only informed everybody in French, even though he knew we do not understand French well and even though he spoke good English.
