What an absolute triumph of hospitality! From the moment one glides through the doors, it’s clear this establishment is a cut above. The staff—efficient, courteous, and possessed of that rare charm—attend to every need with the precision of a Swiss timepiece. The evening repast? Superb. Each dish a masterpiece, served with just the right flourish. And then, breakfast—ah, breakfast! A veritable feast, enjoyed whilst gazing upon the lake, the rising sun painting the water in hues of gold. One could hardly imagine a more splendid start to the day. But let us not overlook the pièce de résistance—the chef’s Spanish omelette! A culinary marvel so exquisite, I daresay it stands as the finest in all of Africa. Fluffy, perfectly seasoned, and crafted with the kind of finesse that would make a Madrid abuela nod in approval. Even the quarters exceeded expectations—generously upgraded to a superior room, no less. The receptionists, models of professionalism, handled every request with unflappable grace. In short, a hotel that not only meets but surpasses the mark. Bravo!

Great location in the middle of the Akagera National Park (if you're lucky, you may spot an elephant when coming to the hotel's gate). Lots of birds around and even pack of baboons lurking around. Excellent reception service with welcome drinks. Spacious, clean room with balcony giving panoramic view on Lake Ihema. Tasty food (both dinner and breakfast) - try fried sambaza fish. Good coffee and excellent staff: we forgot our passports in the room and they called us back. As we had our phones on mute, they contacted our guide, so we returned to the hotel after our game drive. A great thumbs up!

In a place like that you'd not expect the hotel's bar to play loud music - but if asked, the staff turned it down. Murakoza!

Mantis Lodge exceeded all expectations! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning location and the exceptional service. The rooms are beautifully designed, offering incredible comfort and breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. The lodge's location within Akagera National Park is simply unbeatable – we were able to spot wildlife right from our balcony! The only minor drawback is the high price, but honestly, it's worth every penny for the unparalleled experience and the extraordinary location. If you're looking for a truly special stay in Akagera, Mantis Lodge is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!

Lovely hotel. Comfortable room. Fantastic hot shower. The staff are lovely. Really friendly and helpful. Shout out to the F&B manager.

They have a lot of groups. The two nights I was there they had buffet supper. The second night, it was outside by the pool, obviously because one of the groups had requested it,but that shouldn’t mean that all guests have to eat outside. I spoke to the F&B manager and he agreed to let me order from the a la carte and eat indoors. This was perfect as I had been on a night safari and was quite late having dinner.

The room, the bed was so comfortable, it was really luxury 5 stars The staff was outstanding , Giovanni at the reception was so helpful, kind, and really knew how to treat the guests and make them feel special The pool was really nice and the views were spectacular At the pool bar we had a fun time with the bartender and the fireplace lit every night made the ambience magical The food also was really good and the fresh pineapple juice was really really good .

When we booked half board we were expecting a dinner buffet, but unfortunately was low season so we were offered a la carte instead Even though the food was good the dessert selection in the menu unfortunately was a bit scarse

The location is simply amazing, it's my second time there after fifteen years and the place has been(at least partially) revamped. The staff cleans continuously, the atmosphere is magical. You're locked in after your safari but luckily, the restaurant is excellent and honestly priced compared to what one could charge a captive clientele. We ate two nights there for 70 to a 100 € for a family of 5. The pool is very nice, of a good size for a morning swim or for the kids to play in when back from the park visit.

I understand the need for lighting up the place but it makes it impossible to see anything but the largest stars. Another point of that sometimes the requests don't seem to be well tanked to the kitchen. We ordered two hamburgers, on well done and the other rare, and we got two that were really cooked all the way in. Finally, the rooms could do with a touch up, particularly in the bathrooms where the corners show some peeling paint, other signs of humidity, or simply shower heads that have seen better days.

We stayed in this lodge for one night. The staff of the hotel were friendly and helpful. The place was quiet and peaceful because it is within the Akagera National Park. We had a superb dinner and breakfast in the restaurant.

The complication at the Park Management. Why should I pay expensive fees to enter the lodge, which was about 150 meters away, if I am not going to tour the Park? Not only that but also fees to allow the car and the driver to drop us at the hotel. This, in my opinion, is ridiculous and should be reviewed.

All the staff we wonderful helpful, seeking to help and make our stay a good stay, we were asked about the food in the restaurant, as to any likes or dislikes and as to the quality. Happy staff usually means good management, therefore great service. Very Good Buffer Breakfast, Evening meal was wonderful so much to choice and you can keep on going back lovely.

Nothing was to dislike only we did not have the time to stay longer maybe another time

Everything here was perfect, the rooms had all facilities you can ask for, clean confortable and very quiet. It is located inside the Akagera park, so searching for wildlife is just perfect as long as you are inside the park. Breakfast and dinner had a great option and the staff was wonderful throughout. There is a pool overlooking the lake and the border with Tanzania and at night the set fire to sit around and enjoy a drink in a campsite looking area. I will be back here, this is what you need after a full day of exploring the park to relax and recharge . Loved it.

This hotel is a very smart western-style hotel located right within akagera national park. The location could not be better. It is the obvious place for visitors to stay whilst visiting the park, but despite having a monopoly on the location, the quality does not suffer. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, if somewhat characterless, like a European chain hotel. There is good aircon, tv, and an excellent bathroom. There is a large pool and, due to its elevated position, some amazing views over the park. You can enjoy drinks at the poolside bar, and there is even a well equipped gym.

The meals (breakfast and evening) are buffet meals served in a large room, so feels a bit like school dinner, but there is a good selection, especially the deserts. The fact that you can just turn up and help yourself immediately is actually quite welcome after a long day in the park, rather than having to go through the whole palaver of ordering and waiting.
