The breakfast was repetitive but delicious. The staff were amazing and tried their best to cater to our needs. The location is surreal, especially by the pool area. The lookout point would have been great if they didn't have construction work material held there. The walk from our room to the restaurant and pool area was tiring as it was steep; a buggy would have been appreciated, but it meant we were burning off what we ate.

The only downside to this stay is the steep and narrow road to get to the hotel (which made us weary to travel outside) and the constant sound of construction nearby as the accommodation was expanding. Otherwise, I'd recommend the place wholeheartedly. Oh, and add in Buggy, and this place would be 10/10!

We liked almost everything about the place. The view from our room was stunning. The cleanliness of the room and the estate was exceptional. The room and the bathroom are beautifully designed to blend in with nature. The staff - led by Manager Mr Prabhu and his colleagues Arun and Jobin - were absolutely fantastic, truly hospitable and incredibly helpful. A final word -the food. It was a pleasure eating at the restaurant and all dishes that we ordered were cooked to great taste while being healthy.

Regarding facilities, nothing to dislike, except the fact that the wifi seemed to get off often, which might be due to the high location. One point of dislike, which really cannot be attributed to the staff and management, is the noise created by some loud, talkative and disorderly guests. Its a shame that the natural peace and tranquility of the beautiful setting could be disturbed by insensitive guests.

We stayed three nights at Hills and Hues in the room "The Cavern". The welcome was so warm, we immediately fell in love with this beautiful hotel. The location is unique, the view from the terrace is a dream. The complex is very well maintained and the room is spacious and tastefully decorated, the beds very comfortable. Both breakfast (included) and dinner, which we ordered á la carte, were extraordinarily delicious. The team organized a tour of the nearby Periyar Tiger Reserve for us and even when we needed a tuk tuk, they helped us immediately. I had a treatment in the spa, the forehead oil treatment with head massage. I thought it was great and was deeply relaxed (75 minutes for around €40). We would return to Hills and Hues at any time, the stay definitely enriched our vacation in Kerala.

The staff were so nice and helpful. The food was also fantastic, we had a clay pot dish with beef that was out of this world. Pool was beautiful but cold, so kept it to one dip. View was beautiful, although we often felt like we were inside a cloud. The hotel itself is very charming.

We wanted to do the periyar boat trip and asked for help planning activities before arriving, but were told to talk to reception when we arrived, by which time this was fully booked. This is partly on us, we should have come more prepared and taken responsibility for booking activities ourselves, but we expected more proactive service from a 5-star hotel. Staff also made us do a google review on the spot when leaving, which felt a bit forced. Also note that staying here seemed to make all the taxi companies set up their prices, but that might be our bad luck.

Fabulous views. Lovely large room (302) with exceptionally large balcony, with sitting area overlooking Tamil Nadu. Chef Ram on hand to discuss personal preferences for food, and prepared us some tasty food. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Be aware that there are some steep climbs to the rooms from reception - not good for anyone with mobility issues.

Wi-Fi kept dropping out and the code needed to be input at least twice before it could be used. No shade around the pool - however umbrellas are not an option due to the high winds.

Danya with Guest Relations was extremely helpful. I missed the opportunity to reserve tickets in advance for me and my mother for the Periyar Tiger Reserve boat ride and she purchased it on our behalf thru her contacts and paid herself which I reimbursed after arriving at the hotel. Hotel is located at the topmost point of Thekkady and you can see the Tamil Nadu and Kerala landscapes from the 360 roof top. Excellent cottages and views with a remarkable infinity pool...one of the prettiest infinity pools I have seen with the view. Staff were very polite at the restaurant and elsewhere.

The only comment I would leave for the hotel to improve are the food options. I believe the hotel is trying (with the decor, style of living along with the cost per night) to attract western crowd and higher end clientele from India which is totally fine, but the restaurant food menu can be improved. It is neither completely Indian or Western or a good fusion yet. The menu is somewhat limited (dinner) and need to be re-visited. The food quality is also very sub-par compared to what you can get out in Thekkady city considering you are in the middle of Kerala and you can expect authentic Kerala cuisine. The western cooking seems to be in more of a learning curve that is going on in the kitchen. Overall, it has quite a bit of room to improve!

The setting of the hotel, high in the hills above Thekkady is beautiful, with amazing views over Kerala on one side and Tamil Nadu the other. The grounds of the hotel are beautifully curated with lush greenery and flowers. The staff are friendly and helpful and special thanks go to the chef who at my husband's request, demonstrated how to make fish mollee. The service all in all was great, as was the range and quality of food.

The decor of the hotel is a little eclectic - a cross between twee English country garden, Indian rustic and modern, but that aside, this is a great place to stay in.

The location is beautiful, and the property is gorgeous. We loved everything about our stay at Hills & Hues. The views were stunning, the food was amazing, and the evening music entertainment was superb. The infinity pool was definitely a highlight—we had a great time swimming and enjoying the scenery. I would highly recommend this property if you’re looking for a truly relaxing and scenic stay!

The location is amazing and the views mind-blowing. We stayed in the King’s Lair which was a particular highlight as the room has panoramic views throughout. Woke up to the sunrise and saw cloud forests. Total bliss.

Nitpicking here but the bonfire could probably be done better as aside from music and a fire there wasn’t much else. Also the children’s playground was very small and had only 3 things in it.
