Extremely convenient to the airport (super short walk) and after almost a week in Comoros next door, this was true luxury. Check-in was a breeze. Hot water worked great. It was so nice not only to be in tourist class accommodations again, but really nice tourist class accommodations.

Not much English, but that is to be expected everywhere in Mayotte. Got a little bit of diarrhea from the breakfast. Maybe the scrambled eggs or maybe the milk on the cereal. But pills cleared it up and that is also expected occasionally when traveling overseas.

The Ibis hotel is a 5 minute walk from the main airport terminal in Mayotte, so absolutely no difficulty in finding the place. Check in went smoothly and reception kindly switched our room after a small mix up with room type. The bedroom was well appointed with a comfortable large bed, good a/c, and a fantastic shower with good pressure. The restaurant, situated adjacent to the hotel and the pool, had decent options for dinner and we opted for the daily special. The following morning we had a fantastic buffet breakfast with excellent choice of food. Thankfully there was no restriction on water use in the hotel, as the rest of the island is unfortunately struggling with water availability. Getting into town was easy. From the airport we grabbed a taxi and got to the ferry in about 10 minutes. Taxis are plentiful there and if you choose to wait, you can take a shared taxi for as little as 2euro a person. If you want a private taxi its possible to negotiate a flat rate.

Just opposite the airport, which was very convenient, since we were here in transit. The whole set up of the place looks quite nice and modern aesthetical. Staff was okay, but far from the friendliness we had experienced everywhere in Madagascar. View from room (no balcony or terrace) over a lawn towards the sea. Quiet at night. There is a well-sized swimming-pool and seating area around it. No immediate access to a beach, since the hotel is fenced in. Breakfast, which is included, was not rich, but okay.

Small room with separate toilet, separate shower plus a washbasin the bedroom. Not much storage space. Dispenser in shower empty, but small bottles of shower gel and shampoo. Not much choice on the menu card: To ask for salt and pepper (none on the table) one had to get up to ask the not very motivated waitress for it. No bar, no alcohol. First price at booking.com was €215 for our 'Chambre Double Standard avec Vue sur le Lagon'. When I looked again a few weeks later it was €140 for the same room and even that was a lot for what we got.
