Hotel Corones is an atmospheric old style hotel dating from 1920s. Our room on first floor had a private bathroom and the decor was all wood, wooden floors, wooden bed and old fashioned furniture and hanging space. We had access to balcony from our room and enjoyed sitting on long wide balcony overlooking the street. Bar and restaurant on site and breakfast is available at the Paris Cafe next door from 5am. It is easy to explore the town from here and it is located next to a bottle shop and laundry but you’ll need a car to go to the observatory. The bed had four pillows and one blanket but the reverse split cycle air conditioner was silent and we kept warm. There was a small wall mounted TV, microwave, mini-fridge, kettle with coffee and tea making supplies as well as bowls, plates, cups, glasses and cutlery for two. There was a sign to say that the town water is from the Artesian Basin. In winter the cold water tap is cold, the hot water tap is hot but in summer the hot water tap is cold and the cold water tap is hot. Hot water tap starts cold while cold water tap starts and stays lukewarm. Ours had no label so we used trial and error. Part of the fun.
These weren’t deal breakers for us but be aware that parking is on the street in front of the hotel and we needed to carry our luggage upstairs. There is no wifi, no bedside lights and limited power points (part of staying in a historic building). A bit noisy in the hallways with guests arriving later or leaving earlier.

The hotel was located in the centre of town. The building is an historical site and very interesting to learn more about it. The building was amazing with the grand cedar staircase going up to the 2nd level. The glass doors from the rooms lead out to the large huge verandah where you could sit and enjoy the view having a cold drink.
Unfortunately it was the Easter weekend and the town was closed a lot. Having no transport I found it hard to get a meal on certain days. But that was bad timing and the hotel kitchen was closed on certain Easter days. The hotel meals were great on the open days.

The room was fitting for the age of the accommodation
The service level has decreased since last staying there about 3 years ago. Last time we got a good brand of sparkling wine and the dining room was open with good selection on the menu. Last time we stayed we got the room with kitchen and sun room, I made sure to pay the extra to get that room but was given another room which was fine for the night and was beautiful, but for the price it did not meet my expectations this time around.

The atmosphere of the pub is incredible. Such a beautiful, historic building. The big verandah to sit on and watch sunset was wonderful. Right in the heart of town makes it easy to walk everywhere.
A minor thing was that we felt they were a bit understaffed. Of course it can be difficult to get staff. We were quite cold and asked for blankets but none ever came - a very minor thing.

Wonderful stay. Very helpful and accommodating staff. The hotel is immaculate as well as being an amazing place of history. Take the time to have a walk around and check all the displays out and, if you can, do the history tour. It was a real privilege to stay here and I definitely plan on coming back.
Nothing. Everything was amazing. Thank you for a great stay!

Traveled extensively but Charleville was a real eye opener, one of the cleanest towns I have ever experienced. Hotel Corones was exceptional with its history type museum staff and oh my God the food, absolutely fantastic. The Coral Trout was possibly the best seafood dish I have ever had. Thank You Charleville and Hotel Corones.
Everything was perfect

Loved the old pub! The rooms were ok, didn't realise they had no bathroom in the room till we checked in. That was a pain, and not having any water in the room to fill the jug we left super early. The food in the restaurant was great and the staff very friendly, would go back 😊
Not having water or bathroom in the room...our fault for not checking...

beautiful pub central to town with great burgers served. definitely a commercial owned pub, doesn’t have the outback appeal we have experienced at other towns in the region.
No services for meals open early, but the bakery in town was and serves great coffee and food. Check in have limited information about the place, handed over key and pointed in the direction of the rooms.

Staff member Mark was very helpful and went out of his way to help us upgrade our room. The motel room was quiet and well appointed.
The budget rooms have some high-up curtainless windows that let light in from the hallways either side. The walls are thin too so it made it a little difficult to settle down.

Grand old style country pub- restored to former glory while maintaining the family and community history of the town and residents. While there are parts that are showing some wear, this is easily dismissed when you see how much effort has been put into Hotel Corones.
Nothing to complain about at all.
