Beautifully renovated historic hotel in the heart of Jamestown with the best restaurant in all of Saint Helena. Rooms comfortable with both a fan and A/C for those so inclined. The bathroom was spacious and well appointed. My room also had a small mini fridge and complimentary coffee/tea as well as a tasty turndown snack offered every evening that was well appreciated. All of the hotel staff were incredibly lovely with props to Marcia, Rejoice and Heidi for truly going above and beyond to help with local bookings, friendly tips and impeccable service. The breakfasts were delicious and the restaurant offered scrumptious meals with lots of local delicacies, produce and of course St. Helena's top quality bullseye, wahoo and tuna. Don't even bother looking elsewhere - stay at the Mantis and you'll be well sorted!

Excelent location to visit the island and to enjoy other spaces like commerce, restaurants, bars, museum, garden and Jacob´s Ladder. Very good and varied breakfast. Good internet access. Hotel restaurant somehow limited in terms of diversity but reasonable quality. Coffe and bottle of water always renewed at the room. Staff very kind and always available for your questions and needs.

Really nothing to mention.

The staff were absolutely amazing - always friendly, and very happy to assist with queries or point us in the direction of places / events of interest. Our room (room 5) was beautiful, well appointed, and cleaned daily, with a wonderful bathroom. When we had an issue with the hot water, it was sorted out incredibly promptly. There are also a lovely courtyard, where one could enjoy dinner or a drink / coffee in the evening. Well located in Jamestown, close to the seaside and other small businesses in the area. Special mention to Zunaid, Taz, Bob, and Ian for being so friendly!

My one criticism was the breakfast - there were lots of flies floating around the fruit and bread, and I felt more could have been done to keep them at bay - citronella candles or those fly fans. The hot breakfast when cooked to order was fabulous though.

Very clean and beautiful, small hotel in the heart of Jamestown (Well, it's not so big town, but anyway) Nice room and especially shower is special good. Hotels's restaurant is best in town and sometimes it was also only open as well (on July at Sunday) Special thing, I have travelled quite a lot, but I have NEVER met so warm, caring, helpfull and nice staff than in Mantis! Absolutely great!

Wifi system is quite poor in whole island. Mantis Free wifi meant (July 2023) 6 x 30 min wifi without pay / in a week, but it's not free to use, as I supposed. Public wifi's are under pay as well everywhere. But not so big thing, island and the people are amazing!

Beautiful ex-East Indian Company HQ building from the 17th century in the very heart of Jamestown, just one minute away from the sea. Very well kept. English breakfast. The best place for eating out on the island. Spacious rooms with A/C.

You need to get used to the island's overall logistics situation - this affects everyone, including the hotels. So it can happen that they run out of eggs or yoghurt because the freight ship is late.

Friendly staff members. Excellent location. Decent food. Decent room. Great opening hours of the kitchen.

Emails should be replied to in a timely fashion. The internet set-up is sketchy at best. The right word is annoying. It should be possible to make a cappuccino or espresso or an apperol spritz without having to buy the full bottle of proscecco. Is it an island thing that there are no nuts?
