"Minnesota Nice" is real! =) We had questions for the front desk, several meals at the restaurant and all staff we encountered were great! They truly stood out for their level of service. The beds were comfortable, the swimming pool and the game room were a hit with the children. And the views from our room were lovely!

I wouldn't say I didn't like it but the bathroom could use a bit of updating. Nothing major and it wouldn't deter us from staying again.

The breakfast was wonderful. The food was delicious, and was served promptly by friendly and efficient staff. The pizza we ordered for the room was good for a frozen pizza. We got the sausage and pepperoni with extra cheese. We were hoping it would be delivered, but going down to pick it up at the front desk of the restaurant worked out OK. We asked for a 2nd easy chair for the room, and the arrangements were made willingly, which we really appreciated. We also loved the mattress and bedding.

A bigger TV would have been nice.

The lodge was right beside a historic mine and in between 2 lakes, which makes it a little island. The view from our window was amazing. We could literally walk to town. Less than a mile away. My mother got sick while eating dinner at the restaurant. The staff immediately came to our help, they got a bucket, some ice and towels. They even offered to call the EMS.

Housekeeping staff did not come for cleaning, we can understand because they said they were understaffed. But I did eye housekeeping carts on the floors. Since it was a long weekend, there was a lot of hustle and bustle about the lobby, bar and restaurant area

The housekeeping was not quite up to par. They left us with one small bar of soap for 3 days. We did have shampoo and conditioner. Did not empty the coffee pot, and did not replace some of the coffee supplies. Not quite the attention to detail that I am accustomed to. But the room was clean and well kept/

Brilliant location!! The view from our room and restaurants was glorious! Front desk staff are experts at their craft. Welcoming and helpful. They cheerfully direct and solve any dilemma that may arise. A real bright spot in our visit was Rodger. I'm uncertain of his official title but he was a master of outdoor activities. He too was cheerful, helpful, funny, and engaging. He knew the lake, the town of Ely, and the resort well. His generous, playful spirit will long be remembered by us all, adults and children alike.

Can't think of a thing!

The meals were O.K., but not outstanding. The people were excellent, except for one person who was just O.K. The location was very nice views and was quiet other than the dining rooms were noisy, but people were close together.

The hot tub after many days hiking and paddling was perfect, and the pool room was quiet and not busy. Having the bar on-premises for a nightcap was also handy.

The restaurant and bar were very busy, hard to get into without reservation.

The breakfast was decent. It was convenient to go to the restaurant in the morning. However, we wanted to order a late night snack around 9 PM and the kitchen was closed.

Great location right on the lake! We could hear loons calling from our room. Quiet room so sleeping was easy. Strong water pressure. Free canoe and kyak usage. You can rent motorized boats. The pool, hot tub and sauna were wonderful. They have a game room.

Strong water pressure and slow drainage led to standing water when showering. May have just been out room.

Service was awesome, but they seemed understaffed for the amount of people. Food was great, grandsons loved it.

No room service or much available to eat after a certain period. No food in vending only drinks.
