The rooms are very clean and tended to multiple times a day. The breakfast is delicious - several cold options and then a hot Mexican breakfast prepared to order each day. The staff is super nice and helpful. The location is excellent in the Xochimilco area. Very cute property with only 5 rooms, so the attention to detail and kind service are especially noteworthy.

Construction happening next door was sometimes loud in the mornings and afternoons, but not while sleeping. There are also dogs in the neighborhood that bark at night, but nothing a white noise app couldn't drown out. The doors to the rooms are sliding glass, so when people are walking in the hallway, it can be a bit noisy.

This hotel has only 5 rooms so the level of personal service is extremely high. Our main contact was Dulce who was sweet as can be in addition to being fluent in English and very knowledgeable about how to get where you want to go. She arranged taxis for us for less than advertised here on Bookings.com. We walked almost everywhere as the location is a 15min walk to Zocalo, and on the street with the aqueduct which adds to the beauty. The room was clean, you have your own bathroom, coffee maker, bottled water, safe and hair dryer. Not a huge room but like most hotels they have a very comfortable rooftop area to lounge and watch the sunsets. Breakfast was fantastic and held us for most of the day. Fruit, cereals, yogurt, toast, sweet bread plus each morning they offer a hot entree made to order so it’s served piping hot. You will eat family style as all the guests are seated on possibly the largest table you will ever eat on made from one slab of wood. It is beautiful. We highly recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again.

We absolutely loved the breakfast but it’s not served until 8:30 so not good for an early start on the day. They let you know you may have issues finding it if you are using Google Maps. We didn’t have issues but will point out their sign is very tastefully low key. The entryway has a metal gate and a wooden gate. For security you reach through the metal gate to ring a doorbell and the staff will let you in 24/7. We didn’t dislike this but wanted to point this out as it’s not common around the world.

Dulce, Eulolia, Eder, Antonio and Sergio are the kindest, warmest, helpful, caring, fun and loving people! I will come back for sure if I ever visit Oaxaca again. I loved meeting the other guests at breakfast and everyone was so warm and friendly. I think it is ideal for a small, intimate, caring, attentive stay and it is in a great location! I love the terrace and having breakfast together with other guests. I am vegan and I used a small refrigerator for my food and everyone was so helpful in helping me re-heat leftovers etc. I felt so cared for and I really appreciate each person who I met!

The only thing is that it can be quite loud in that area so I recommend bringing really good ear plugs. It's just a great thing to know ahead of time.

The location of Casa Carlota was just perfect, on a quiet street but a really close walk into the main town area. We felt very safe and our room had everything we needed. The bed was HUGE and super comfy. Breakfast was a perfect mix of yoghurt/fruit & cereal with Mexican cooked delights - all very tasty and authentic. The roof terrace was lovely and breezy, perfect for a cold beer. The staff are super kind and very helpful.

Couldn't really fault anything, they had building work going on next door, which was only really noisy during the day and we were given treats to apologise!

This hotel is in the best location - staff is super knowledgeable, friendly and really helpful - they speak english if needed - the hotel is modern, clean and elegant with a coffee maker and water in the room - great shower , air conditioner in the room , nice art - very secure - nice walk into the zocalo passing good shops and restaurants -

There is no garden or outdoor space and i think our room was the only one with a window that looks out on a wall- our room on booking was described as having a patio which it does not - breakfast at 8:30 is a little late if you have a tour - it is a truly lovely hotel but just know these things -

Very nice small (5) room B and B which as very, very clean. The staff was extremely helpful. They arranged a cab to pick us up at the airport and when our flight was delayed and then canceled til the next day they arranged for the cab to be rescheduled for us. We didn’t need it but they offered to book some day trips for us. A nice breakfast is provided.

There was construction going on next door during the day but the noise was over by 6 pm so it didn’t bother us. Never heard it in the morning so they must have started after we left for the day.

La Casa Carlota exceeded my expectations on all levels. The staff were extremely kind, friendly and welcoming, even though I didn't speak any Spanish. The service they all provided from the cleanliness of my room, and shared areas, the homemade breakfast, the thoughtful turn-down service in the evenings were all exceptional. On top of all of that the location is ideal and in walking distance to amazing restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, museums and all the main tourist attractions. The wifi is really good too :)

The only con was the neighborhood dogs who barked at night - but that comes with the territory.

Can't think of a thing.

We stayed at La Casa Carlota for 3 weeks, with a weekend break between the first two and last weeks for a coastal excursion. Returning to La Casa Carlota afterwards felt like coming home. I'll repeat here what I wrote in my other review. Our stay at La Casa Carlota was delightful in every way. Not a thing.

Staff was fantastic. Very friendly and welcoming. Helped us book a cab back to the airport early in the morning with ease. Sent us off with a mini mezcal bottle too, which was a nice touch! The location was awesome too. A short walk from Centro but also on a really quiet street away from the touristy / busy area. We loved the spot. Interior decor was likewise awesome and insta-worthy. The communal bed and breakfast featured local food and made an easy opportunity to meet fellow travelers. Was nice to support a family owned business.

One day the shower didn't run super hot... but there were water shortages in the city that day. The bed was fine, but wished there was another blanket as the blanket provided was thin. That's just us being picky though. Those not as picky on blankets should have no problems.
