Amalfi coast with jungle setting as the Italianate terraces look out over the sea. The ambience and setting of the hotel are lovely, and we fell in love with its quiet atmosphere, attractive buildings and relaxed environment. The hotel shuttle will run you down to Banana Beach and pick up at an agreed time. The pool and museum in the gardens are both of interest and attractive places. Breakfasts were surprisingly simple but the copious coffee made up for it. All the staff are friendly and helpful, and the bedrooms and reception rooms in the main lodge were large and comfortable.

Unfortunately, at times, there was a 2-star quality to the 5-star prices. Dinner was a one-choice selection, and the wine menu was 'red or white' which surprised us. The hotel had recently let 75% of its staff go and was definitely understaffed, even for the small number of guests staying there during January. Ordering drinks was slow, and it took over 30 minutes to make 2 of their advertised cocktails as the barman was obviously filling in for someone else. The hotel could do more to help maintain the cleanness and litter issues (washed up plastics) which took the charm away from Banana Beach.

The hotel is marvellous, such a beautiful place. The view is spectacular with the main house overlooking the water and the greenery from the cliff. Have not been to many places that can compete. The buildings are nicely renovated and placed around a beautiful courtyard filled with plants and trees nicely organised. When coming in through the gate you feel like you entered a secluded paradise. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. Always a nice terrace or private part of the yard that belongs to the rooms and create a feeling of privacy. The breakfast is good, the pancakes with chocolate sauce was a nice touch. The seating area is very nice on the terrace, maybe some tables in the beautiful garden would also be nice. I would recommend this to all my friends and business partners, knowing for sure that they would be impressed and never come back with dissapointment from their trip.

The only thing I can think of is that the breakfast could start a little bit earlier in the mornings. As the climate is so hot its nice to get an early start. 7:30 - 8:00 is a bit late for that.

Absolutely everything. If I could rate them 20/10 I would. Principe was beyond belief but Lucia, Michael, jose Luiz, Amilcar and co. were icing on my cake. Lots of icing.

That I had to leave

The property was lovely. A great balance between comfort and the old look and feel of the Roça. The room had an amazing size, great balcony and matching view. Extremely comfortable overall. The staff was lovely, always very helpful and with really good energy. We had some really good moments with the staff, a lot of music and dancing. Banana beach is by far the best one on the island, the staff are always available to take us up and down during the whole day

The prices were exaggerated for what is offered, especially the food. It’s becoming a monopoly of some sort. We had dinner at the property a couple of times and we regretted it every time. It’s not that the food is bad, the issue is that they charge almost fine dinning prices which isn’t matched by the available menu. We heard from other people that other hotels in the area (same price range) include a lot of activities in their rates. At Roça Belo Monte all the activities are charged separately and with extremely high prices. We actually rented a car for a couple of days, otherwise we would be stuck there or at the mercy of their very high prices. In regards to the rooms, the only bad aspects were the Wi-Fi quality and the water pressure

Hotel area contains free museum open 24/7,jungle located pool,amazing breakfast, dinners, and Praia Banana - beautiful private beach belongs to Belo Monte. Everything was better than we expected

In some places very weak internet connection. But to be honest, you need an internet connection in paradise like this? Definetely not.

It is an amazing property in the middle of the rain forest with top of the line facilities and staff. The activities offered to experience the island are a must and absolutely fantastic.

The restaurant food was good but not amazing.

The breakfast was ok: fresh local fruits, eggs, some cheese, juice the staff was very friendly; Veronica helped us a lot; Ramon, our guide explained many things about the history of the island.

The quality of coffee could be improved.
