I had an absolutely amazing experience at Snooze Ijen Hostel! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with such a warm welcome that I immediately felt at home. The staff here are some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met – always smiling, super helpful, and genuinely eager to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The hostel itself is clean, cozy, and has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that makes it really easy to meet fellow travelers. They also helped organize our Ijen tour and gave great local tips. It’s clear that the team here really cares about their guests and goes above and beyond to make everyone feel included. If you’re heading to Banyuwangi for the Ijen Crater or just looking for a welcoming place to stay, Snooze Ijen Hostel is the perfect choice. I can’t recommend it enough – I’ll definitely be back!

The kitchen was clean and had everything we needed and there were tons of places around the house to sit and eat, work, or relax. The bathrooms and other facilities were cleaned regularly, and the staff were always present and available to assist with anything we needed from questions about our stay to local recommendations!

We found a dead roach on our floor one morning, but this is a relatively common thing no matter where you stay, and the staff helped us with it immediately.

The hostel was amazing - it didn’t look like hostel at all, very green and spacious. The room was very clean and smelled nice, there was also a common kitchen which was also super clean, but…

We can’t give this property 10 out of 10, because someone opened our bottle of Coca-Cola from the common fridge and drank from it, even though there was a sticker on top of the bottle with our name! Staff did nothing to help us to find out what happened, so we had a bad aftertaste.

The staff were so very friendly and helpful; told me about the Damri bus which goes to Ijen and I could hike up myself in daytime if i did not want to do the night guided tour to see the sunrise and blue flame. The staff really set the tone of the place, making one feel welcome and at home. The building is spacious and welcoming. The dorm beds very comfortable, linens soft, showers with nice water pressure, ac cold. I really like the cupboards assigned to each person. The kitchen was clean, well equipped. I could cook on the stove. There was a hot and drinking water dispenser, ice cubes from freezer and a fridge to use if needed. The garden is beautiful with many seating areas tempting one to enjoy the outside views.

I did not like the smell of the cleaning chemicals in the house and kitchen. It lingered after the cleanings. Perhaps a little more air circulation with standing floor fans would dissipate the smells more effectively. The ceiling and wall fans are a little too high up to create much air circulation. Would also like to suggest just wiping with plain water in the main part of the house as it is mainly to wipe dust off. It was quite hot both in and outside the house despite the ceiling fans. Also a lot of mosquitoes. Again suggest several standing fans placed inside n outside house to create a nice wind which would also deter mosquitoes from landing on the skin.

Out of the 30 different accommodations we've been to on this trip, this is the best place we've stayed. This might be the best hostel we've ever gone to globally. The ladies in charge are so friendly, so supportive and super easy to converse with. They helped arrange an amazing trip to the Ijen mountain. The interior design of both the communal areas and the bedrooms is well thought out too. In all of Indonesia, we discovered oat milk in their fridge too,w which was lovely! The hostel itself is located in a good space where we have great restaurants nearby as well as a short drive to the beaches etc. The bedroom was clean and free of bedbugs (we always check) and the bathroom was nice to use too. The A/C was very good too, not too powerful. We needed to sleep during the day since one of our excursions ended at 9am, it was perfectly quiet for that. I even got to have a few online meetings with an amazing internet connection too (i don't remember the number but it was somewhere between 50-100Mbps) We are very sad that we didn't stay for longer. In fact, if you're looking for a Bali vibe but a lot quieter, this is a perfect option.

First I admit that I didn’t read the restriction policy. I thought that it will be the same with other hotel facility. This property is restricted for children under 18 years old. So it is not suitable for family with children.. and when it is said that 1 room only for 2 people then it is strict. I was on a family holiday, we were 6 people, 4 adults and 2 kids.. and booked 2 room a week before. Because of the restriction, my father and my oldest son have to move to another hostel,and it was frtustrating because we just arrived from 8 hours driving from sby… they could just warned us before about the restriction.. so that we can cancel our booking and find another place to stay

The staff are exceptionally welcoming and always ask how your day was and if they can assist with anything. They go above and beyond. Great location close to some very good restaurants but far enough away from busier areas. Lots of comfortable places to hangout for the day and relax both inside and outside. Booked the Ijen sharing tour with the front desk which was a fantastic tour. If you do not want to pay for a tour, they will also help you plan your Ijen trip. They also gave me great advice and helped me contact a private car company for traveling to Baluran and Alas Purwo National Parks

There was some traffic noise that could be heard in the rooms closest to the road. If you like to sleep in or go to bed early, this could be a sound issue.

Really nice accommodation - multiple common areas, free water. Dorm room had walls on either side of each bed (NO BUNK BEDS!!!) which was nice. Felt private, even though in a room with others. The staff was super helpful in sending me tour information for Ijen and Bromo, nearby restaurants, etc. Lots of information, which left me feeling cared for.

I had a wonderful stay in snooze Ijen. I had booked a private room with shared bathroom. Location is good, the place is clean and is beautifully decorated, it has a very distinct Javanese feel to it. The common areas have a lovely atmosphere to hang around, there is a well-equipped kitchen for the guests to use. Wifi is good and there are lots of restaurants near by at walking distance. this place is great value for money. The best thing is the staff, the girls at the reception are very professional and helpful, they help out in organising trips/buying tickets/any other query about places to visit, they have an answer to every query/request and they are always smiling.

Good hostel with great, attentive staff. We really felt welcome and enjoyed our stay. The location was easy to reach from the train station and was located central for doing the tour to Ijen. The room was clean as well as all the common areas. There is basically all you need, such as cooking equipment, towels and water dispenser. Overall good value. * If you plan to do the Ijen Tour just ask the staff for information. They gave me really good tips. I can recommend you to go by Damri (minivan) as it’s a lot cheaper and the easiest way for going there by yourself. *
