We liked the proximity to the lagoon and the view. We couldn’t get into our room a little early, when it appeared no one else was even staying in the hotel. When we got to our room there was an unexpected bowl of fruit for us. (Thanks😋) The employees were friendly and helpful!! We also received a bottle of Lambrusco the next day! There was a welcome drink on the rooftop the first night, it was quite windy, but a great view of the sunset. 🌅 We also enjoyed the daily breakfast 😋….

We did have raccoons 🦝 🦝🦝visiting our deck (running by on the railing daily).

Exceptional location and views over the bay, especially from the spacious rooftop terrace with bar... star gazing, sunsets... just exceptional. The room was very spacious, with a private balcony and one king-size bed (uncommon in Yucatan, according to our own experience) Free bikes for small tours through the small calm and cosy fishermen's harbour. Great food price/quality...ceviche/arrachera steak...very nice menu. Friendly staff, welcome drinks on the rooftop and complimentary cava bottles. Great hotel to complement an exceptional place on earth... 25min drive from Los Coloradas and directly located at the harbour where the small boat excursions leave to cruise through the Rio Lagartos bird sanctuary, watch crocodiles from nearby, flamingos, pelicans, herons, and swimming in the Golf of Mexico... amazing. We were really glad we didn't skip this place on our trip through Yucatan.

Nothing unpleasant to report. Just don't forget musqueto repellent when you're outside. No annoying swarms of insects. Just a couple of bites we initially didn't even notice. Hotel staff even offered their own biodegradable repellent, which was nicely perfumed.

This is a 2-3 star property (not 5 star). If you go to the hotel with reasonable expectations for the price you are paying, you shouldn’t be disappointed. I consider it a great option for a one night stay in order to take a boat tour of Rio Lagartos. My husband and I arrived a little after 2pm. We spent the afternoon by the pool and dock. We loved watching the birds and boats from the dock. Sunset from their rooftop is wonderful. As we were sitting there, a staff member brought us our welcome drink, a glass of chilled champagne. We did not eat dinner at the hotel, but breakfast the next morning included eggs, fruit, toast and coffee.. The building definitely seems dated, but our room was clean and the staff was friendly. It was a good value and we are so glad we decided to stay one night in Rio Lagartos. This is a sleepy little fishing village and although busy with tours during the day, at night it is mostly just the locals. We felt completely safe the entire time. And yes, even in February we were able to see Flamingos plus lots of other birds and wildlife on our tour. It’s a special place that we feel lucky to have seen.

Wonderful hotel, great location and kind staff! We received an upgrade to ocean view room and it was AMAZING - would recommend this room type! They gave us options of tours since we hadn't booked anything and had a hard time finding tours in the town. Had a hammock in our room, with cute little balcony. Very quiet overall which was appreciated Received free welcome drinks, and the breakfast was amazing!

There were a lot of racoons at night outside al throughout the pool area, they were not afraid of humans

Fantastic location, great pool & terrace area on the lagoon. Room was clean, bed comfortable, air con cool & shower hot. Sunset cocktails on the roof was perfection - and they had a happy hour! Friendly staff who couldn’t do more for us, despite our lack of Spanish. Looked after us even when the electricity went out in the whole of Rio Lagartos meaning there was no air con / hot water / fridge etc.

The toilets by the pool could have been cleaner & the bedroom is a little shabby around the edges. The breakfast was ok & the staff cooked us up come hot pancakes when we asked. Good for the really.

This is a great hotel in which staff go the extra mile to make your experience excellent, we really enjoyed our stay here. Traditionally furnished but with a large and comfortable bed for a great night’s sleep & we were upgraded which was a lovey touch. Sunset on the roof terrace with a welcome drink is an absolute must, and the hotel have partnerships with a tour company for a lagoon tour if you’ve not already arranged. Great lagoon views from the hotel.

Lovely and helpful staff. Nice breakfast and comfy bed. AC worked a treat. We were able to borrow hotel bikes and explore the fishing village which was fun. Boat tour picked us up from the hotel jetty. The village is really authentic, which is what we were after, away from the hustle bustle of Cancun. Got to see flamingos, crocodiles and the pink lakes. Special place. There is also a cenote on the edge of the village. Wonderful sea food restaurant and sunsets.

The shower could do with more pressure.

Given the price and some of the reviews and pictures, I wasn't expecting much from this hotel but actually found it a surprisingly nice place to stay. The building is rather worn and showing its age a bit, but the staff were kind and worked very hard to make our visit nice. The hotel restaurant's food and drinks were very good and reasonably priced. There's a pool area out front with nice places to sit and relax. We had a standard room which was nothing special, just a bed and a TV, but it was clean, quiet and comfortable for sleeping. It was on the top floor, so we had some water view from the tiny balcony. The bed was comfortable with new linens and good pillows. Parking was available adjacent to the hotel.

The room and bathroom were really very basic and pretty well-worn, but even so were clean and functional. Would be nice to have some decorations and seating in the room other than just the bed. Wi-fi was available but was weak and not much good outside of the lobby area.

Brilliant location with views across the estuary. Rooftop terrace and private jetty make good spots for watching the sunset. Our room had a comfortable bed, sofa and hammock. Also a little balcony with a beautiful view. Lovely pool with comfortable loungers. Nice restaurant/ bar area and drinks served by pool. Little shop with a few holiday essentials.

Some of the staff seemed as though they needed training e.g they didn't offer any help with our luggage. and weren't very helpful when we asked about trips. Hanging space was only sufficient for kid's size clothes.

The room was big with a comfortable king-size bed and a small balcony overlooking the town. Good shower with decent toiletries. You even get a hammock in the room! The town as a whole is very quiet - unless there's a fiesta happening on the sea front, in which case, beware. Good swimming pool, and there's a great roof terrace with bar for a sundowner to watch the fantastic sunsets.

Breakfasts are average.
