The food was nice (just takes some time, I guess it's because they make it fresh every time). The view was absolutely stunning. Everything I didn't like was surpassed by that view, it's a big garden/farm of sorts where I used to take a morning walk. You can see the sunset, stargaze, cloud gaze, mountain gaze. It's quite close to the Bir landing site where there are some great cafes and the amazing views. The staff was polite and they had a pet dog, Whisky. It was always on a leash, so that was a relief. All in all, I'd like to come back.

There was no AC in the dorm (which is a standard in Bir) but it got very hot in the afternoon. They did offer to give us a different room which was supposedly less hot, but that was shared with more folks and not the arrangement we booked. There were no side tables in the room and no railing on the top bunk, which was a bit inconvenient. Even the shower didn't have any space to keep your toiletries. The location is a minimum 20–25 minutes walk from main roads. Difficult to find any auto or taxi on that route either, so you have no choice but to walk. You can maybe ask the manager to call you a cab but we didn't need that.

This is an honest review of The Solace, Bir. I could not recommend this as a place to stay. Firstly, when we arrived after a long, hot and dusty drive we were casually informed that there was no water and wouldn't be any until the next day, so no showers and if we wanted to flush the toilet there was a bucket. This isn't exactly what you expect when you book a place that advertises itself as a 'luxury retreat' and charges close to $100 a night. There was no offer of any compensation because of the inconvenience and in the end we pointedly had to ask if breakfast could be given to us - this was begrudgingly agreed for one day only. On the second night, a group of rowdy men arrived at the accommodation and proceeded to start drinking and partying. This honestly shocked me as the whole 'vibe' of this accommodation is presented as a peaceful and private retreat where you can enjoy the serenity of the mountains. I couldn't believe that the manager was okay with these men having bottles of whisky on the premises, and allowed their behaviour to escalate until they were drunkenly singing and playing loud music right outside our hut at 11pm at night. Despite repeated requests and ignored phone calls to the manager nothing was done about this behaviour until I demanded a full refund of the night's stay, at which point the drunkards were finally ushered inside their room where they continued to carry on. In the morning when confronted with this behaviour the manager simply shrugged his shoulders and said they were corporate guests and what could we expect him to do? When I suggested other such retreats often had enforced quiet times from around 9pm he nodded with disinterest. When I asked him whether he was going to refund us the night's stay he said we'd already had a free breakfast and to take it up with Booking.com - who have unsurprisingly fobbed us off saying it's up to the accommodation to offer a refund.

We booked the chalet for 4, we reached and waited for their egoistic people who were passing the responsibility to other to just pick luggage first, then we entered the room which was with zero ventilation, too much suffocated and hot as if we have entered an oven, on our multiple request a fan was arranged and later the owner arranged another room and we had to split into two rooms. Now comes the third shocker, the room in evening for full of moths, flies , mosquitoes and on our multiple request the person came cleaned it partially. Pls do note there were wild spiders, the bed sheets were not changed from last guests.
