Cottage Review: Kings Lodge Hotel, Hogsback Nestled in the heart of Hogsback's enchanting forests, Kings Lodge Hotel offers a perfect retreat for those seeking tranquility and charm. My stay at one of their rustic yet cozy cottages was nothing short of delightful. The cottage exuded warmth with its wooden interiors and a crackling fireplace, which made for a perfect companion during Hogsback’s chilly evenings. The beds were comfortable, dressed in soft, fresh linens that ensured a restful sleep after a day of exploring the picturesque surroundings. The en-suite bathroom was spotless and equipped with all the essentials. Kings Lodge also boasts a stunning garden, and the views from the cottage windows were like stepping into a fairytale. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, offering insightful tips about nearby attractions like the Arboretum, Madonna and Child Waterfall, and the mystical forests. Dining at their on-site restaurant was a highlight. The home-cooked meals, especially the hearty breakfast, were delicious and provided the energy needed for hiking. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway, a family adventure, or simply a peaceful escape, Kings Lodge Hotel's cottages are an excellent choice. I would gladly return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hogsback. Rating: 10/10

We enjoyed the proximity to the Gardens we visited. We were made to feel at home and at ease. Brent and his staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were delicious. Our dinner on Friday night were outstanding! Our dinner guests, locals, thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The steaks were exceptionally good. As for my lamb shank, fall off the bone and very tasty.

The bed was not very comfy, a bit too soft for us. The stairs were a bit of a mission, but doable, old knees.

The staff was exceptional from the receptionist- Siya, to the meals assistance -Chuma and ultimately the room attendant/Cleaner -Pamela. Chef preparation of food was great too. .

N.B. Please fix the water. Washing was a mission. Waiting for the bath to run hot water was a serious discomfort. I am an engineer i can come fix pumps to run water efficiently for you. Water harvesting should be easy there. Difficulty in water running even in the loo was a serious discomfort, however, your staff just make everything to be neglectful. Very lovely people including the manager. The smile in a service business just cuts it all.

The staff were extremely efficient, friendly and helpful. A big Thank You to Siya, who went out of her way to ensure our stay was a memorable one. Mr Wilson, the caretaker, who ensured we had enough wood to keep the fire going during the cold nights, Pinkie and Lusanda for their friendly service. Cottage had everything we needed.

The staff were incredible. We felt like we were leaving family when we left. The food was unbelievable. Chef chippy is amazing! Really good value for money. The service was amazing all round and we loved the pool area and ground. It was so central and all round and amazing stay. Not fancy, just comfortable, homely, warm, fun, and delicious all round. We were sad to leave.

Everything was perfect for a retreat away from the busy modern city life, it a tranquil place to touch base with nature and for peace and quiet

Honestly we didn't enjoy it, as a young couple who still have city energy it became too quiet and conservative for us, and unfortunately we did not have a closer bustling town life to escape too during the day

It was a very nice place to stay. Friendly and very helpfull staff. A quiet and safe place. I will recommend the Kings Lodge to friends and family. We will also visit it again. Thanks and keep up the good job.

The hotel has a family vibe and the staff go out of their way to make the holiday memorable. It was just lovely.

The braai area and patio could be neatened up and upgraded. A braai option one night would’ve been lovely.

Warm, friendly, welcoming and accommodating staff. An excellent base for exploring Hogsback. Good food and cosy pub.

Suggestions: 1. The baths should have a hand shower option. 2. The breakfast should include healthy vegetarian options such as muesli, yoghurt and fresh fruit.

Everything you need is available.

Initially we were in a room with a bath and it was awkward as we’re used to a shower. When I mentioned this to Brent, he immediately moved us to a room with a shower. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at Kings Lodge.
