Beautiful lodge with good facilities and friendly staff. Safe area / good security. Our unit was well-equipped and clean. Enjoyed the swimming pool during the heatwave period. Wish we had more time to explore the rest of the property (the cave and baobab tree) and to enjoy a meal at the restaurant - next time! Was well-located for an early entrance to Kruger at Pafuri Gate. Admin team informed us well in advance of some temporary WiFi issues due to their network provider's tower outage. Limited data network (close to the pool) was sufficient to maintain Whatsapp access to contact friends/family.

The area is nice, close to the Pafuri gate to Kruger Park. There are some informal settlements around, I was a little worried about safety. The units are clean. It is not a luxury lodge, but all basic amenities, cutlery, etc are provided. The cave braai was very enjoyable, the meat was cooked very well, great dessert, all served in a lovely location.
On arrival the staff could not really assist with basic questions regarding the braai, where we should meet, at what time, how drinks work etc. The swimming pool is a disaster, bright green, it needs some serious attention.

The staff was very accommodating and pleasant throughout our stay. We checked in at 03:00 in the morning versus 21:00 previous day as planned. They even made means to have someone available for us to check in after it was clear we were not going to check in on time due to accident on route. Breakfast was lovely. Tents are beautiful and cater for privacy.
Unfortunately, wifi was off due lightning strike making it a bit difficult to contact other people but I hope the tower will be sorted out soon.

We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived at the gate. The dinner service was efficient and perfectly on time, and arranging for a breakfast pack for each of us was quick and easy. The pack itself was impressive and filling. Our rooms were exactly as presented and each unit has its own wifi network. The lodge's grounds are beautiful to walk through and the scenery is stunning. We sadly only stayed one night in order to be closer to the Kruger National Park's Pafuri gate, but I suspect this is a great choice for longer stays, too.

I was one of the previous HR Managers at Tshikondeni Mine. Tshikondeni was home to our three children and will always be. The evening at dinner one of my previous staff members at the Mine, named Girly, saw me and remembered me from more than 21 years back. That lady is so special. She is a gift to Avelanie lodge!. Please look well after her. We will definately be back and next time we will do the cave braai.

Self catering lodge, very clean. We didn't use the kitchen etc. we ate at the restaurant meals were good, with good size portions. Breakfast was cooked when you arrived with a good selection of cereals and juice. Pool was nice size, but no seating. We think that this hadn't been put out yet

A great place to stay in before or after visiting the Kruger National Park. The lodge grounds are beautiful, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant and were satisfied with both.

Nice spacious tent. Very close to Pafuri Gate of Kruger National Park, which is convenient for nature lovers heading there.
Nothing really. The tents can be a bit cold at night but that is to be expected.
