The property is so beautiful and gardens so well maintained! It was peaceful and beautiful and the staff were all so super friendly and accommodating. The pool and bar facilities were excellent. A great suite was provided (suitable for families), so we had an amazing stay with our little ones (9yo and 3yo). They enjoyed the pool thoroughly. Close to the Newcastle mall and BlackRock Casino. Roads are in good condition if you are not using an SUV, a family car is sufficient.

Jade, one of the staff members, was fantastic. They were very accommodating in many ways. The bed was comfortable and clean place. There were beautiful, well-maintained gardens. They had inverters/generators for power problems.

Unfortunately the power went out and thank goodness for their inverters/generators to keep the lights on. Unfortunately the power-hungry aircons could not remain on during no power and it was a very humid night! This was nothing that can be controlled however.

The property is very quiet. The mature trees surrounding the property make it a perfect spot for quiet reflections during your stay. The staff is also incredibly kind and accommodating. This is why this is our first choice accommodation in Newcastle.

I’m not a fan of the small showers. I think there’s enough space to create roomy showers, especially as the rooms don’t have baths. But the showers do the job.

The kitchenette in the family unit was convenient. The grounds and upkeep of the property are excellent. There is a lot of attention to detail. The pool area is welcoming and good for relaxing. It is a very quiet and tranquil place to stay over. The property is not far from the mall and casino complex.

The family unit No. 28 comprises of two bedrooms and a shared bathroom and toilet. To gain access to the bathroom and toilet, one needs to pass through the second bedroom, which can be disturbing. Although the family unit was cosy, we found it a bit small for a family of four - two adults and two older teens. I will rather book two twin rooms next to each other in future.

Interesting B&B in the grounds of the late 19th century author, Rider Haggard's, home. Very attractive garden, comfortable room, honesty bar and dinner was available if pre-booked. (No choice of menu, except we were asked if we had any allergies.) We had a good meal of lamb chops in our room as the weather was rainy, but could have eaten at a table outside or in the house dining room. Breakfast was good, with quite a wide choice and eggs cooked to order.

I really loved how tranquil the place was. It has ample parking space and it was nicely located close to our room. The buffet breakfast was great, lots of variety to choose from. The bar was fully stocked and had everything to make cocktails. It was also very neat and tidy. It’s also situated in a quiet area, it’s not far from town and mall. We felt really safe during our stay. I really appreciated their communication via WhatsApp, we received quick responses to our many questions.

We loved the area as a whole , very tranquil, clean and beautiful. The small kitchen was a nice surprise and it made out stay very comfortable and accommodating as people that love self catering.

The reception at Haggards was warm and welcoming. The room was beyond our expectations. Very clean well lay out and got every essential that you need for your stay. Definitely worth staying here agian for a well deserve rest. #Home away from Home.

Haggards is a historic property with beautiful gardens and excellent facilities - like the fully stocked honesty bar with pool table and sports TV and Braai area. Lovely pool area and breakfast room. It is located in a great and private location.

The staff was amazing , extra helpful and so mindful . The scenery is out of this world , the photos don’t do it any justice it is such a tranquil space . Doesn’t even feel like it’s in South Africa , just wow .
