Luxury, Nature & Adventure AfriCamps at White Elephant is a Dream! Our stay at AfriCamps White Elephant Safari was nothing short of spectacular. Nestled in the heart of the bush with breathtaking views over the water and rolling hills, this place offers the perfect blend of adventure and luxury. The tents are next-level beautifully furnished, super comfortable and fully equipped with everything you need. Waking up to the sounds of birds with wildlife roaming in the distance and sipping coffee on the deck while watching the sun rise over the water… pure magic. Traveling to the safari is a game drive on it own. We went on a boat safari , all expertly led and packed with unforgettable sightings. Seeing elephants, buffalo, giraffes and so much more in their natural habitat was surreal. The staff was incredibly warm and professional always ready with a smile or a story. Everything was seamless, from check-in to the activities. “Beautiful Souls”🙌🏽 Whether you’re looking for a romantic escape, a family adventure, or just a peaceful break from the world, AfriCamps White Elephant has it all. Luxury glamping at its absolute finest we can’t wait to go back for the 3rd time🙊…the plan is to visit almost all the AfriCamps sites…

Absolutely nothing, just wish the hot tub was on the deck.

After half an hour driving on a very basic dirt road inside Pongola Game reserve (R 25 admittance) you will find a number of well equipped 2 bedroom safari tents with a large veranda and wide views into the fields. You will see birds and animals (like nyala) right from your chair. Although the booking confirmation said No internet, there was excellent Wifi in the tent and also 4G reception. Safari's can be organized, e.g R 520 for a 3 hours afternoon drive or R 540 for a boat cruise.

What should have been mentioned: the hot tub present outside each tent is advertised explicitly, but this requires you to buy fire wood and warm the hot tub yourself for a few hours. I think the expectation of guests is that this is included and also arranged (e.g. after giving a preferred time). Also they advise not to drink water from the tap in which case a pretty expensive place like this should provide a bottle of drinking water per night per person. But they do not, and you have to buy that (or cook the water which turned out to be working).

This was an amazing experience with the kids. You felt like you were sleeping in the bush with the animals. The unit was really clean and well designed. The staff were really friendly thank you Nala. Loved the hot tub. In the afternoons the animals would surround the tub while you were in it (mostly warthogs and antelopes).

The food bakets, for me, were not a good value for money. We’re expecting a bit more. Maybe something freshly baked. But really enjoyed the convenience of not having to bring a lot of food with. This is not really a negative. But just to note there is no privacy in the unit. The kids can look into every room (except the bathroom) from their bunk bed. But this really is part of camping.

We stayed 7days and 6nights❤️ it was a place of peace ,serenity ,recharge and reconnect with nature. The staff is helpful and friendly. We had Mr CJ welcome us and facilitate our boat ride. We had an encounter with several staff, who were always ready to help. We really want to pass our appreciation to the staff ,in general we found the people in Pongola and Jozini not friendly at all so coming back to our camp after our exploration of the area was such a breath of fresh air. Mr Mthsali, very bubbly gentleman ,you made our morning,Siyabonga. When you came to our tent you exude so much positive vibes, we felt homely and welcome. Mr Adrian we enjoyed our boat ride on Christmas day. We got a chance to spot different animals unfortunately we did not see the Elephant. My kids enjoyed the pool and using the braai area. The air conditioning worked well. It was blazing hot 🔥 .We had a chance to enjoy the Rain. Londiwe Mathenjwa and Nunu our cleaners... thank you for keeping our tent clean and helping us when the monkeys who invaded our tent. My daughter sported the Green Bush snake,tjoe the screams of fear and excitement 💯 The monkeys kept us on our toes..... XOXO game love it ,lovely gift,reminds me of childhood games and being carefree ........ Mr Mabika.... very wise man,long conversation that was full of insight . The outside fridge is a lovely idea . Made a huge difference for our braai.....

The location, views and general experience is clearly very well crafted. The 'tents' have pretty much what you need and everything is in good working order. It is not just anywhere where you can see a black rhino from your breakfast deck...

The booking experience was horrible. On booking we requested for my elderly mother, who was on her own, to have a unit next to ours so we could look after her. The hosts replied that that would be arranged... months before our stay. On arrival this was not the case and her unit was at the opposite end of the camp. We had to drive her everyday to visit with us. The hosts claimed that they don't do arranged bookings like that and that it is the "system" that allocates units. This turns out to be a lie as on our second day, our neighbours arrived and they had 2 units booked next to each other.

The outside tub that could be hot or cold depending on the weather. Units are clean and tidy and have everything you will need for your stay except a hairdryer that would have been a great touch to your glamping experience.

Staff don’t do dishes. Most self catering options offer this. At least give guests the choice even if at an extra charge or fee to cleaning staff. Way too many ants. We rented 2 tents and both got completely infested with ants even if no sweet things are lying around. We also sadly saw no elephants. Not sure if there are any left at this reserve.

It was the best location we stayed at in SA!! The tent is equipped with everything you need, the beds are very comfortable, but the best is the view, the atmosphere from the terrasse and the hot tub! Unbelievable! Breakfast with Giraffs (at some distance) , the -for me - so typical African lights, and the sound of the bush…. Important to bring enough food if you want to stay for longer, you can „order“ breakfast and braai baskets at the reception though. Also the game drive with Cosmos was just perfect!

there is nothing one might not like - if you enjoy the quiet.

What an incredible experience, the staff were incredible from the moment we arrived. They were so helpful and accommodated out every request including moving us to a new tent due to a bee infestation in the jacuzzi. Our guide Sipo was the best part of our experience this weekend. His knowledge and sense of humor was outstanding but his dedication to conservation and compassion was what stood out most.

There was nothing to not like. .

This Africamp is beautiful with a fantastic view of Jozini dam. the tents are clean, and beautifully decorated for every comfort, and the hot tub....Definte glamping! We went in January and the park was full of baby animals everywhere, not to mention the Nyala herd in the camp.

The only thing we weren't aware of before arriving was that there are no self-drives allowed in the reserve, so unless you have booked a boat trip or a game drive, you cannot see any of the game in the park, AND there is then an additional cost to these activities which you may not have prepared for.

It was a fantastic stay, beautiful views, amazing service from all. The boat cruise and the game drive was a highlight. We also really enjoyed time spent in the hot tub under the stars. Already highly recommended to friends and family.

There was some confusion over the breakfast basket we ordered, I specified that in needed to be for 2 people, however we only received enough for 1 person.
