We used it to break our journey to Conil de la Frontera. It was very easy to find with (limited) parking in front. From the hotel there are various bars and plazas to visit. It was a delightful spot for an overnight. The parador, as expected, was very clean with nice friendly receptionists. Our room was basic but up to standard and, after an excellent meal there, we slept soundly.

We could not even see the swimming pool as they close it early evening until late morning. This is common to Paradors and other hotels in Spain that like to treat their clients as children. I find it very irritating.

Nothing can beat staying in a real castle! We used this zafra stay as our one night stay over on our drive to Portugal. The location is perfect, right next to the old town center. We walked into the town center and enjoyed one of the best meals of this trip in a restaurant called Meraki. The local do not have dinner until 8pm. The town center is beautifully decorated with lights. Rooms are warm and basic with beds, a desk and a bathtub. Parking is easy in the parking lot next to the hotel, and you can buy 24 hour ticket in reception. The staff is helpful by answering questions in time online. We didn’t have breakfast there but there seems to be a breakfast buffet. Checking in and out is easy. The keys are really fancy!

Nothing.

Nice big rooms, comfortable beds. Great location in the heart of this small town. Beautiful central hall and multiple quiet and cool little areas to sit and read.

Extensive work is being performed on the castle at the moment and this affected the pool area with makeshift ramps for wheelbarrows and temporary screens falling over sun loungers when the wind blew. There was also little shade as the parasols were new and still taped up in their plastic wrapping making the pool area less than relaxing

It’s a unique place, surrounded by a romantic little town. Very cozy to have dinner on the nearby square. All the staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was fantastic.

There were hardly any downsides — except for the air conditioning in room 218. Firstly, it made a lot of noise, and secondly, there was barely any airflow, let alone any cooling effect. With outside temperatures reaching 40°C during the day, a properly functioning (and not too noisy) air conditioning system is essential.

Beautiful building with a lot of history Very good breakfast Comfortable room but the bed was rather hard for our liking The hotel is certainly worth exploring. There is a door and staircase on the top floor up to the battlements and towers for amazing views across the town.

The minibar fridge was not working when arrived and it took more than one request to get it fixed. There was a wedding reception taking place in the courtyard and you had to walk through it to access the bar, pool and reception which was rather awkward. There was a notice in English in the room advertising a guided tour of the building and its history which we booked at reception. However neither the notice nor the receptionist told us it would only be in Spanish. A disappointment but as it was free anyway nothing was lost.

This is an old castle from the 1400s converted into a hotel. Very good breakfast. Comfortable rooms. It is situated within a short walk to many sites, shops, and restaurants. Reasonably priced parking right next to the hotel. Do not use the parking kiosk, but instead check in, and purchase a parking permit from the hotel. It's much cheaper. Unless you speak Spanish, skip the complimentary guided tour of the castle. You will see very little and understand even less.

The communal spaces are wonderful you feel like you are in the castle and the staff very friendly. It was actually too hot for us to even use the pool but it looked great. Dinner was good too.

They don't have secure parking, it's paid on street parking only. So just one to mindful of if you're travelling with a full car. Our room wasn't big but it was perfect for what we needed and very quiet.

The hotel is a converted castle and is truly stunning. The staff were friendly and helpful, they provided us with two rooms connected to each other which was great as we were travelling with three kids. The swimming pool was a great size and deep and had a lovely aspect looking onto the castle walls. The hotel is in a great location, being only a few minutes walk from the Plaza Mayor.

Parking was open to peope walking past but seemed safe enough. Could have benefited from a kettle in the room but it did have a fridge.

What can be better than staying in a former castle! The overall parador is outstanding, of course, though the individual rooms are not much better than any high-end hotel. The restaurant is superb, which is a general feature of the Spanish paradores.

I do not understand why so many hotels prepare beds so that to get in you must destroy all the layers and then put it back together again in a sensible way. It would certainly help if they used fitted bottom sheets but even still there has to be a better way.

This was an unexpected stay of only one night and we were given a room in a tower which was not only quirky but very comfortable. We had a separate walk-in shower and a huge round jacuzzi bathtub. The whole building is lovely with lots of public places to sit and relax - both in the courtyard and inside the building. Taking the stairs instead of the lift was no hardship as the staircase is monumental - fit for the castle this once was. The staff were friendly and spoke good English, organising a taxi to the station for us when we had to leave early in the morning.

We would have liked to stay longer......
