We were extremely disappointed with our stay at this hotel, and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel advertises itself as having only non-smoking rooms. However, knowing that many hotels in Turkey allow smoking and given my asthma, I took the precaution of contacting the hotel in advance to request a non-smoking room. Unfortunately, I received no response. Upon arrival, we discovered that smoking is allowed in more than half of the rooms, and the floors with most of the suites are designated as smoking floors. We were also informed that the only non-smoking suite available on the second floor was already occupied. As a result, we were told that our free room upgrade, which the hotel had previously confirmed, would no longer be honored, and we would instead be downgraded to a standard room. While understandably upset, we felt we had no better option, and we were exhausted from a long day of travel. We reluctantly agreed to pay the same amount we would have for the suite and proceeded to our room. Now, let me quickly assess the hotel facilities: first, the entrance is through a narrow side door, not the grand entrance shown in the photos. Upon entering the lobby, there’s an immediate smell of cigarette smoke, and the lobby itself is unwelcoming. The downstairs staff was well-meaning but inexperienced, while the manager was a nightmare. The room was very small—only around 20 m². When standard rooms are that small, we always upgrade to larger rooms or suites, but unfortunately, we couldn’t even pay for an upgrade, as all the larger rooms were on smoking floors. The room was nothing luxurious; it felt like a low-tier 4-star hotel—clean and new but very ordinary. The bed was uncomfortable, and the pillows and linens were of low quality. The night before, we had stayed at the Mövenpick in Diyarbakır, and after our stay in Batman, we went on to the DoubleTree by Hilton in Şanlıurfa—both exceptional hotels, and shockingly, similarly priced.

Ten minutes after we settled into our room, the phone rang. A woman introduced herself as the hotel manager and immediately began lecturing us about how the hotel had done nothing wrong. She insisted that upgrades were at the hotel's discretion, so we shouldn't be upset about not receiving the upgrade we had been promised. She added that since we weren't paying for the upgrade, we had no right to express any dissatisfaction. I asked her if she was really calling just to tell me this, as I had already been inconvenienced enough by the situation. I explained that I didn't need to be disrespected by the hotel manager and that I would like to end the call. In response, she brazenly told me that the hotel management had not inconvenienced us and that we should not view it that way. Her tone was incredibly rude and completely intolerable. At times, she was practically shouting at me, accusing me of not being polite enough. I told her that I would like to end the call, and hung up. A minute later, she called back and, once again, rudely offered us an alternative: instead of the small suite we had been promised, they could offer us two upgrades to a large suite—but it would still be a smoking room on a smoking floor. I politely reminded her that I have asthma, which is a medical condition, and I cannot stay in a smoking room. Her response was that the room was spacious, and I probably wouldn’t notice the smell. I found it absurd that I had to keep explaining why this offer was not only unsuitable but also unreasonable, given my medical condition. I told her that we were very tired and simply wanted to remain in the standard room. She accused me of not being grateful for her offer, got angry and hung up on me. Frankly, this was the worst experience I’ve ever had with any hotel or hospitality manager, anywhere.
