The Hotel is really close to shops and restaurants and also public transport. Very convenient in taking the bus to go to the Centre of Santa Monica. The room is very clean and love the shower and hand soaps and the moisturiser, The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast given is a bonus. Really nice. Five star!!!

Perhaps you could also put some gluten free biscuits or muffin as Im glutten free and there is nothing in the breakfast table that I could eat.

I cannot fault this hotel, the staff were super friendly, they went above and beyond for a special birthday I had whilst at the hotel. It was a short walk into Santa Monica Main Street and to the Pier. Breakfast picky bits in the morning were sufficient with coffee! Truly a gem.

My stay at Santa Monica Hotel was great. I traveled for work, to a market event that was taking place just a few meters from the hotel and I can't complain about anything. As I booked well in advance of the event date, the rates were already quite high, so I can't praise the value for money, but given the conditions of the trip I took, the hotel served me perfectly. Well located, comfortable and with very friendly staff.

There's nothing I didn't like. I just highlight the cost-benefit, which in my case, as I booked just a few days in advance, I ended up paying a high rate. But the space welcomed me well, and it was possible to have a good night's sleep in a very fast-paced work routine.

Excelent little hotel, very cosy, vintage decoration. Confortable rooms. Very nice staff. Free parking next to the room. Hotel is walking distance from Santa Monica Pier where there are a lot of restaurants, cafés and shops. Walking distance to the beach as well.

My room was on the ground floor and I had someone very noisy on the upper room, this was very bad. Every morning at 5AM noise started...

The staff were extremely helpful and polite. The rooms were spacious, location on Lincoln Boulevard was excellent and within walking distance of Mexican food joint & Burger/Japanese food stalls on the same side of the road . The beach is approximately 15 minutes walk through residential area ( Bay Street) but was safe to walk even at 8 PM in the evening . The only distraction were while walking on the Lincoln Boulevard, we encountered a few homeless but they were polite enough to ask for one or two dollars from us. Otherwise they were nice and did not bother us. Entire area was safe and enjoyable . The motel had spacious parking and one can park his car just in front of his room. We enjoyed our stay at this motel. Only negative point is that hotel tariff is little expensive.

The motel is like a trip down memory lane back to the 50s and 60s. It's the type of motel you see in movies from that era, built around an asphalt court/parking area. However, it's clearly been updated over the years and the rooms have a beach vibe. It also had all the amenities we wanted, including things like shampoo, conditioner, lotion and hand soap, an ironing board and iron, refrigerator, and hair dryer. The beds were comfortable, and the room was quiet. As others have noted, the entire staff was friendly and helpful. The room had no air conditioning and was steaming when we entered, but among the sea breezes, multiple fans available, and screened windows, it cooled down quickly and nicely.

The breakfast offered nothing fresh except a bit of fruit. Everything else was packaged and undoubtedly full of chemical preservatives. We thought the price was exorbitant (a total of over $600.00 for two nights). This is not entirely their fault, as in addition to the outrageous hotel taxes big cities often charge, I guess because Santa Monica is a beach town, they also charge a whopping 25% "resort tax". This motel had NOTHING about it that made it a resort. We had no choice but to stay there, as we were there for the memorial service of a close family member who lived in an adjacent neighborhood. But you need to be aware of this when looking at prices.

So cute, clean and affordable! Loved that parking was included. Staff was incredibly kind and helpful. I walked my pup at all hours and felt safe in the neighborhood. Super easy walk to the pier, saving time in traffic and no parking fees. Amazing choices for food in the area. I will be back!

That I couldn’t stay longer!

cannot express how thankful i am to have discovered this place....it is -exceptionally- clean, the staff goes way beyond to help in any way, be pleasant, and welcoming....easy parking. very clean rooms, both times i've stayed, my rooms have had refrig., microwave, fan, and hair blow drier....very incidentally, but the louvre shutters, which seem to be on all rms., are just delightful...most sincerely, thank u s.m. motel.....also, super shout out to laura, who has helped me immensely, w. booking, and is just completely helpful in any poss. way......(!) thanks u guys.....!....

The staff! The lovely responsive people at the front desk as well as the kind, cheerful and hard-working cleaners. And this was during the fire that was raging close by. We so appreciated the hotel and are simple but very clean and comfortable room.

No real breakfast

The room was clean, modern and tasteful. It had great facilities and the staff were really friendly and helpful, suggesting things to do and places to eat. They even had electric bikes free to use for hotel guests, which we used and had a lovely ride along the cycle path near the beach.. Excellent location and breakfast snacks included. Would highly recommend
