The location was perfect. The room was great and room service impeccable. The restaurant was great too, especially "happy hour" specials.

My room was directly opposite the pool area, so on a few occasions there were kids screaming on the top of their voices whilst jumping in and out of the pool. It felt a little inappropriate for such a classy, tranquil hotel with elite clientele who were dining or holding private meetings in the courtyard area. I appreciate that the parents were happy that their kids were having such a fun raucous party, but maybe this hotel wasn't the best fit for them? There was also lighting issues in my particular room (214) where bedside lamps would blink or flash quite erratically when any other power was being utilized in the room, such as aircon, hairdryer, TV, etc. If you put a side bedside lamp on, it will occasionally flash brightly, which could be an electrical issue to be investigated.

This little hotel is tucked away behind greenery-covered fences just across the street from The Grove. Everyone we encountered - front desk, valet, restaurant, cleaning staff - was kind and attentive, and the room itself was an absolute steal given the location. We were in the "second stories" building, which is not the one with the interior courtyard. Our room had hardwood floors, a sitting area, and a sliding barn door to separate the bathroom area from the sleeping area. It was clean and mostly quiet (we had a loud-ish neighbor one night), and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel served as a great "home base" for us to explore LA and felt very safe both for us and our car.

The loud-ish neighbor woke us up from a dead sleep at 2am with bass, which wasn't great. But someone from the hotel must have dealt with it because they quieted down within 30 minutes.

This hotel is really beautiful and the location is great being across the road from the grove which is by far the best mall we went too. As two young girls travelling we felt very safe in the area. There’s lots of shops within 2 minute walking distance (chipotle, trader joe’s, CVS). We easily accessed west hollywood and beverly hills which is where all the best night life and shopping is with public transport and ubers were about $10-$15 usd. It was easy to get around on public transport right out the front of the hotel. Location perfect. Staff at the restaurant were so lovely as well and the cleaning staff. Really recommend staying here with friends for a trip the location is great and it’s clean and cosy.

Short Stories Hotel is in the perfect location for a visit to experience the Hollywood area of LA. It is located across the road from Farmers Market and The Grove, across the road from a Hop on Hop off bus stop. I even used the last HOHO bus of the day to get to a show at Pantages Theatre in the evening. The hotel itself is cute as a button. The courtyard, where they serve free tea and coffee each morning, is a haven from the hustle and bustle outside. The bar and restaurant staff were so friendly and really made my stay there so enjoyable. Happy hour was a highlight.

Loved our stay here! Perfect location, with a beautiful courtyard and a nice size pool to cool off in. Right across from a farmers market filled with amazing food vendors and the grove shopping area, we had a nice time at the local spots to here, its around the corner from a nice bar and resturant. The whole place feels so considered and thoughtful the design details and the little touches like chocolates on the pillow at turndown, robes, and toiletries. A stay that felt both relaxed and special. Absolutely loved it!

Nothing, all perfect!

It’s a beautiful and centrally located property with a wonderful focus on art. It was very easy to get to Laurel Canyon, Studio City and other neighborhoods. The staff were are all very welcoming. The curated collection of Art books in each room on art and architecture inspired me to visit LACMA and art galleries. The rooms are spacious, elegant, extremely comfortable and very clean. The King Junior Suite is a beautiful, and had a seating area and a lovely bathroom. The hotel has both stair and elevator access. There are multiple seating areas in lobby, near the pool and on their patio. There are also deck chairs in the sun on the second floor. I walked to Neighborhood coffee every morning, and also went to I Love Pilates just around the corner. Canter’s Deli and Jon and Vinnys are a quick 5 min walk from the hotel.

Welcome/hotel service, room, pool--even in winter, all wonderful! Would definitely return. Front desk staff so helpful and nice. Pretty and clean room, cute little touches throughout, like the decor and live plants and room amenities. Would recommend!

Not so good was the restaurant/service--wouldn't go back, and the pillows left something to be desired (like some support), but the bed was great, parking a little pricey, but valets were nice, and cars were nearby. Would still return and have already recommended. (FYI: In general, don't trust Booking.com for incentives that they advertise--they are inaccurate and Booking has had no interest in fixing it, being accurate, or providing customer service--not any hotel's fault.)

I truly dont think I could have stayed somewhere with a better location. We could see the Hollywood sign from the balcony, across the road was the Farmers Market & the Grove. CVS down the road & Trader Joes + other grocery stores. Area felt safe. The hotel itself was divine. The atmosphere inside was absolutely stunning, the outdoor sitting area was so tranquil. The front reception staff and cleaners were always friendly and kindly answered my many questions. I absolutely will be staying here again next time I visit the States. I recommend this hotel to everyone who visits LA.

The Junior Suit was very nicely appointed, good size and very comfortable. Small hotel and nicely kept, feels comfortable to move around in. Very nice and helpful staff. Restaurant/bar on site was nice, good food and reasonable priced. Onsite secure parking for tall vehicles!

Staff management of cleaning contractors - contractors arrived at 7am two mornings to pressure wash the hedges for an hour. This could have been done later in the day. While there was a coffee service every morning and brunch on the weekend days, it would have been nice to have the restaurant providing a "light" offering on the weekday mornings to go with the coffee.

The location is great, just across from the farmers market. Chic design and ambiance. Valet service was professional. Generously let us check in early.

Had to choose between privacy and lighting: our room was on the ground floor and the window was facing the parking lot - so we kept our blinds shut. There were no other windows in the room and it wasn't extremely well lit, so it ended up feeling quite dark and gloomy. Also, the room space wasn't planned all that well and we didn't have room to open our luggage comfortably. For the rate of this hotel, I expected much more.
