Absolutely loved the location- right on the water. property sits up high so there is a very big view of the lake. We Also loved the look of the lodge - which had a very classic adirondack lodge feel with a giant moose head over a stone fireplace. The front porch was so welcoming and relaxing, and it caught a nice breeze like a wind tunnel. I also really liked that we could check in remotely and had keyless entry (pad with code). Rooms were remodeled and modern yet rustic, so they felt cozy but fresh, with super comfortable beds. We rented a pontoon and had use of the dock, and there is a fenced in area for dogs. Loons on the lake calling at night were the finishing touch!

The only thing i would ding the facility on is the mold in the bathroom shower. It's easy to bleach or use some other cleaning agent/strip and re-caulk... For the price and being a recently updated and an otherwise cleanly kept facility, there should be no black mold like that. It was quite a bit in the caulked areas. really recommend that be taken care of. But otherwise, we loved it.

The room was wonderfully spacious, jacuzzi tub in the room, not bathroom. Super cool. The bathroom itself was utilitarian but nice (had black washcloths and ample make up remover, loved that). Fridge, Kurieg and the pods provided were Starbucks Pike Place Market. The breakfast spread in the main building, which is gorgeous, was balanced and had everything I'd excpect but nicer. They had *gingerbread granola yall* AND a lone container of Lucky Charms lol, I couldnt believe it. My daughter (14) has a new favorite place! The bed was was super comfy, tv selection was great (Netflix, Hulu, Disney, noteably), plenty of outlets for chargers and the Alexa said "bye" when we left. The views. <sigh>. This lake and Old Forge are very near and dear to my father's side of the family. Nativity goes back to my great grandfather (Cheyne). It was a significant occasion for us as another Cheyne, my aunt, was visiting also. The fact that it was very much off season, I didn't get to try the restaurant, seasonally closed), it was perfect. It was crisp, clear vibrant yet so comforting and soothing. I couldn't have asked for better.

I'm only doing this part because you asked, and since you did, I noticed a few practical things. They wouldn't dissuade me from staying again. I'm already planning on it. The room is spacious enough for task lighting. One pendant type light over the coffee area and the little breakfast table (super cute). Given how far away the store is, a microwave is almost a necessity, assuming the goal in staying there is to enjoy the lake, the sauna, a bonfire, the peace and quiet - not going to the store or out to eat. I mentioned the restaurant wasn't open (seasonal closure) so we couldn't eat dinner there, but with how I eat I'd likely bring half "home" and would want to heat it up. The bathroom does not have a separate heat source, which is pretty much the only thing I didn't like.

Everything was just amazing. Wish we could have had a longer stay. We definitely recommend it. My best friend and I were there for Firefighter School that the Old Forge Fire Dept hosted for the weekend. We moved our motel to the Great Pines because the motel our FD reserved for us was shit. The amenities that come with the stay are wonderful. You can kyak or just sit around and have a bonfire in one of the two outside fire pits. Or you can go inside and relax and read a book. It is so peaceful and relaxing. It makes you forget about reality for a bit before you have to go back home to it. We will definitely be back!!!!

What we didn't like was having to leave the peaceful nature of the Inn. We enjoyed it so much. One night was definitely not enough time to enjoy it all.

This was my first visit to Old Forge so finding a nice place wasn't easy. Came across Great Pine. It was easy to make the reservation location was easy to find. The view was amazing very cute and relaxing surroundings. The bed was comfortable and I slept well.

I didn't like that there was no one at the front desk you needed to call. I did have to call and she called me right back. I guess I'm just use to checking in with someone. You check in using the email. I was trying to unlock the door with the key code and it didn't work the first few times, but my husband got the key code to work.

The Lean-to Restaurant on-site is excellent. Having it right there is already a great asset (not having to go out to search for a place to eat after a busy day is very convenient), but it in addition the food is excellent. Thomas who runs the restaurant and acts as groundskeeper of the property is wonderful and gives the human touch to an otherwise impersonal check-in check-out process.

I would prefer a more personal check-in/check-out experience. Online is fine for out of hours but for reasonable daytime hours it would be a warmer arrival and departure experience.

Loved everything about this property. The cleanliness, decor, view, peacefulness, location, self service everything. The hotel offers use of canoes, kayaks and snowshoes which we didn’t get a chance to utilize but plan on doing so in the future.

The heat in our room was too much and we didn’t find the thermostat until the following day because it was in a corner on the ceiling. We managed by opening a window so it wasn’t a big deal, but something to keep in mind in the future. Also, not that it made a difference for us, but we stayed one night and never once saw any staff. This wasn’t an issue for us, but I could see how it might be for some people.

I have stayed at the Great Pines often in the off season. I continue to come back because I know I'll have a good bed, clean room and fantastic views to enjoy. I really enjoy the pick me up coffee and breakfast items and the casual atmosphere. It is always nice to sit in the great room near the fire place and quietly read or chat with other guests.

There is not a lot open in the off season.

The location on the 4th of the chain lakes outside of Old Forge was picturesque and relaxing. The manager of the property communicated with me after a last minute booking and answered every question promptly and courteously.

I wish the restaurant had been open on Wednesday, but that’s not really a reflection of the property, more a matter of the end of season sporadic bookings and having the wait staff drive so far for so few patrons. There was a bbq restaurant just minutes away, so it’s not like we went without. This isn’t really a complaint, as we are locked into this specific week for fall traveling, and we have to accept the limitations.

The Lodge is placed at a beautiful location, great view of the Lake. Private, quiet, off the beaten path.

Our cabin was a Mountain View, which meant we didn’t get ADK chairs to sit in either. Which we didn’t realize because there are SO many ADK chairs pictured. We tried several times to go to other locations to obtain a chair to sit and see the views (to drink our Coffee, etc.,) and it was like there was a shortage of chairs; or they were reserved for those with Lake view access. Such a bummer. We also didn’t have basic necessities like hand soap in our cabin when we arrived - they told us we could pick it up ourselves at the lodge but when we went it was all gone, we had to wait until the next morning and then found someone to ask.

We loved the family/pet friendly atmosphere. We were looking for a scenic overlook in a peaceful setting and this was definitely the place to find it! Located outside of Old Forge and commercial aspects but close enough to other amenities on Fourth Lake. When we wanted privacy- we got it.

Parking was tight, Fortunately, all travelers were courteous and when they saw one of our party had adaptive devices and needed assistance they offered to move vehicles so we could unload and load as needed within a reasonable distance to our cabin.
