We arrived late and left early the next morning, but it was clean and convenient. This was a great stop on our long road trip home, and it was nice to spend some time watching the sun set in the Badlands after driving all day and then come to this conviently located hotel. They did a great job of communicating how to check in late - very easy. My daughter ended up forgetting her headphones in the hotel room, and I called. They offered to mail them to us, which was really nice of them! So great customer service even though we were only there a really short time!

Small room, but extremely comfortable bed and good air conditioning. Having a refrigerator in the room was great. Water pressure in the shower not so good, wifi worked great.

Late check-in time of 4 pm. Husband not feeling well, arrived at 2 pm to see if there was any way a room was available but was not able to check in until 3 pm. Suspect it was more a matter of policy than availability because motel room doors were all closed and no cleaning staff visible around the rooms. but did appreciate that we could at least check in by 3 pm.

It was very close to the entrance of Badlands National Park. The views were stunning and the 2 bedroom apartment with air conditioning was perfect. 2 bedrooms, bathroom, lounge with comfy 3 seater sofa and chair. Table and chairs and a fully equipped kitchen. Didn't have a kettle or hairdryer though. Very close to a bar called The Wagon Wheel, where we had some nice food. The pool was unfortunately closed, due to it being out of season, but it looked wonderful. Staff were very friendly and the little shop had plenty of snacks to keep you going. I would definitely recommend staying here. We loved it.

No hairdryer or air conditioning in the actual bedrooms

The Badlands Hotel is really a motel which allows you to drive right up to your room and unload easily. The rooms were large, nicely airconditoned, had interesting art on the wall and the beds were very comfortable. The motel is about 2 miles from the Badlands and because it also has a campground next to it they have a small store in which you can buy snacks and other needed travel items. It was well maintained and very clean.

You know what you are getting in this remote but convenient location., but that being said it was very comfortable and well maintained.

We loved our little 2 bedroom apartment. We felt like we could have lived there comfortably for weeks or longer ... We made use of the available laundry facilities. A small store downstairs offered sundries such as water, toiletries, and ice cream bars. There was a full kitchen with a large refrigerator in the apartment and a cozy sitting room but we spent most of our time sitting on the balcony enjoying the gorgeous views of the Badlands. There is a small hiking trail that loops beyond the property and it was beautiful to walk at sunset, misty rainbows in the distance, the rock faces turning pastel colored in the background. There are a couple of bars down the street that serve drinks and food and we had a great time hanging out with the locals & eating excellent Indian Tacos!

We enjoyed our stay. The place has a little bit of a worn, lived in quality that we didn't mind at all but if you were expecting something more glamorous perhaps it wouldn't be for you? They do keep it very clean.

This is a no-frills stay, only 10min away from the Visitor Center and the most popular trails in the Badlands. We drove in from Custer, entering the park from the south along Sage Creek Road, stopping at all of the overlooks before staying here for the night. The next day, we left early to do all the hikes before driving to Wall. As a short stopover between days of exploring the Badlands, it was perfect. Because I booked early, I got a room with 2 queen beds for a song. It was basic 2- star accommodation - what you get near most national parks whether you pay more or not. Check-in was inside the store. The friendly cashier gave me info about the store and food served there, as well as 2 recommendations in the town of Interior for late night eats. We ate at the Wagon Wheel and it was decent. Basic menu with foods you really can't mess up. We ordered a pizza. The motel building was single level and quiet. There was plenty of parking in the giant gravel lot and we parked right in front of our room. The room was a good size and clean. The beds were the same as all the beds we'd slept in throughout Wyoming and Montana - a little worn and hard, but not uncomfortable. The A/C and Wi-Fi worked well. There was a mini fridge. The bathroom sink was small and old, but it, the shower, and the toilet worked and had decent pressure. No problem with hot water. In the morning, we ordered breakfast at the store. There is one cook and one cashier who also busses the 4 or 5 tables. When we first came in, the area was busy and all of the tables were full. 10 minutes later, it was empty. If it's busy, you can order the food to go or simply browse the gift store while your order is prepared. By the time it's ready, the large families will have vanished. I had an egg and bacon breakfast sandwich, and my buddy had a breakfast burrito. At $6-$8 each, the food was tasty and cheaper than anywhere in California, so we were happy. Check-out was easy and friendly.

The furniture was old. No microwave. The "porch with a view" was more like a long concrete walkway that ran the length of the building. It was covered and had chairs, but faced the parked cars in the gravel lot. Not a big deal, but it's a little stretch to call it a porch. The pool was a shallow above-ground pool. We arrived late and left early, so we didn't see anyone use it. This place is advertised as a motel & campground. As such, I expected the rooms to be small, dingy, even a bit ...disappointing, but I was pleasantly surprised with the very adequate room. The on-site store and food corner were convenient, and overall, it was a great value for a basic room SO close to the Badlands!

You can't beat the location. It's just outside an entrance to the Badlands. Very convenient. The room was clean and was equipped with necessities, but it could use some updating. Bonus amenity: Friendly cat

Staffing hours are very limited, so we actually never had in-person contact at all. An envelope with a key and check-in forms were pinned by the office door, and we basically checked ourselves in. We checked out before staff hours.

Comfortable beds, fairly quiet unless the people in the room next to you were arriving or leaving. Lobby has a nice little breakfast restaurant and a Small convenient store with fresh brewed coffee, yogurt, etc. very friendly staff. Mainly, the location is the biggest positive factor. Just a few miles from the entrance to Badlands, to the visitor center, and to the lodge (which has a restaurant with limited hours and limited selection and shop and convenience items.)

It was pretty much as expected.

Great stay right at the Badlands National Park. Stayed in one of the rooms. Old style furniture with character. Comfortable bed. There was a coffee maker and a refrigerator. Everything was well organized.

Very thin walls, I could hear every sound from the neighboring room. There was no microwave oven (not a real issue for me, just be aware).

Proximity to the Badlands visitor center to wake up and get an early start on a hot day. Also, the sunset with the Badlands peaks in the distance was photo-worthy! Walking the campground edge during the sun sets. You’re far enough away from larger towns so the tiny mini-mart was a good touch. It was not fancy, but it was clean and well-kept with surprisingly great beds and we’ve gotten used to expecting bad beds when traveling. At our age (50s) we need decent beds for good sleep and our upstairs room get strong thumbs up.

The shower in the room was quiet tiny, but we made due. What are you gonna do! It’s hard to find dislikes because our expectations were set for a bedroom at a campground-hotel. It otherwise exceeded them.
