It was precious! Stars galore at night, sweet pool and event capabilities- outdoor stage + dancefloor, fire pit, tables and chairs and hammocks all with view of lovely mountain desert locale. Old school bus type vehicle turned into ‘quick breakfast’ venue-serve oneself good coffee, Danish, hard boiled eggs, cereal, bagels-simple fare. Loved the flora planted about the hotel grounds. Loved the staff Mr + Mrs …Duarte, I believe was their name. She is a genius guest arrangements and was clever with motel’s simple decor. He is informative, polite, attentive and helpful to guests at The Desert Air. An unexpected plus for some of us: A nicely stocked package-liquor store was right there next store to the motel office. The room had seriously cold A/C w/remote user control, good TV unit w/ALL the apps and channels, bench to stargaze outside door, parking just right there too. Gazebo type picnic gathering area in center of complex contributed to friendly encounters and star talk; the galaxy type.

Not that I don’t recognize the simply huge amount of work and time it took to get The Desert Air Motel to sparkle as it does, I DO - but it’s an old infra+structure, and another couple of electric sockets would help, the refrigerator, a small cute retro unit stopped-started-stopped so didn’t really cold up our canned drinks, outside lighting had dodgy operation as well. I’m sure are all on their to-do lists. My husband was perfectly happy, barring the socket vs phone charging problem. I notice even vague imperfections and only list them with positive energy and perceptions what will surely be.

Wonderful staff, they arranged a late check-in for us within minutes of the request. The room was clean and comfy. Convenience store right across the street. Very cool motel vibe and the breakfast bus is a bonus.

The bathroom was a bit old. The door was chipped, the shower and faucet spout could do with a change. It would be nice to have a few wall hangers. Not deal breakers in any way but these things improve the overall experience. Maybe a bit on the expensive side?

Checking in was very easy, the staff were responsive and answered my call even after sundown. The bed was comfortable, the room had ample space for one person, and the amenities were nice. I stayed in the Ocotillo room and really appreciated the terrace space and tub, even though weather conditions were not friendly to being outside.

The outdoor lights are solar-powered, but unfortunately it rained and was cloudy all day so I had no light outside at night. Not much you can do to prevent that, but it would be nice to have an electric option.

Good choice of cable tv services. The room and grounds were clean and neat and the breakfast was good. We will be staying again if the circumstances arise.

I feel the price is very high but since it's the only lodging in town you really have no choice. Good ole capitalist monopoly! Cudos. The room had an overpowering aroma of cheap aftershave but after a couple of hours of airing it out it was fine. The Wifi shut down in the morning around 8:00 am.

Loved having breakfast in the Bus. Only bad part was no Ramps and my husband is on a walker. There was good coffee, plenty of fresh food, and a nice picnic area to sit in. the staff was very helpful. We drove out of our way to stay there on our vacation, because we had been once before and liked it so much.

Maybe more ramps, but that is easy to work with if you are with someone.

Good affordable plays to stay if you aim to go to Big Bend Park, coming from the east. You can reach the park in approx. 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Room isn´t that big and it is kinda old. Most of the things are in a good condition. Walls are really thin so you can hear the people in the rooms next to yours getting up and you can hear cars outside passing by. Was okay for me, because i wanted to get up early.

The perfect location off of Hwy 90. The room, well kept and very clean. Comfortable beds. Upfront door parking. Receptionist....very nice and helpful. Will be traveling through next spring. Definitely plan staying there again. Very charming motel.

Nothing negative to say. It's a gem of a motel. Highly recommended.

Everything was perfect - the staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable, the room was cozy and quiet, and the location on the edge of town was great for privacy. I am not sure if I will ever make it back to Sanderson, but if I do I will no doubt be staying at the Desert Air!

great renovation. Clean, comfortable, great TV choices, friendly. Added breakfast good. And new pool and rooms.

No closet or ability to hang or store clothes. Also faceplate on shower handle was not affixed to wall.

perfect place on the way to Big Bend. Feee breakfast in a school bus.

Athena bathroom was quite old and the door was not working properly. But it was ok since we spend just a few hours to sleep.
