Somerset Apartments is close to everything. Probably the best part. Just a 7 minute walk to collect our bikes from Wilson’s hire. Whilst the furnishings are basic, the beds and seating were comfy. The bathroom in Hibiscus 11 looked to have been recently renovated. Great water pressure and nicely fitted out. The deck outside was great and furniture comfy, the roll down blinds shading from the afternoon sun was most appreciated as it can get quite hot. Gai the owner is lovely. Nothing was too much trouble.

One of our group was surprised there was no A/C or that the apartment couldn’t be locked while we were out. Neither of these factors was a problem to me or my husband and we were confident our belongings would remain safe - as they did. Having no wifi in the apartment (and only in the common room or transit lounge as it’s called) could be a bit tedious if one wasn’t organised with bookings etc but honestly, it was great to get away from it all including the internet!

It was very well located to everything and close to shops and restaurants, yet far enough away to be super quiet. It’s a short walk from Ned’s beach which has the best snorkelling. The apartment and property had everything we needed for a really comfortable stay. The manager couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly.

WiFi was in one lounge area only, but only a 2 mins walk from our apartment. However it was really nice to have a break from it 24/7 so not a complaint at all, just something to consider.

Great welcoming helpful staff somerset apartments was also in such a great location! A lot of people insist on bikes to get around but everything was so close for the most part we just walked!

The only thing I didn't realise when booking the accommodation was there is an upstairs aparment above the other apartments which we stayed in and the noise from them kept us awake and woke us up sometimes in the mornings...of course this wasn't Somerset apartments fault but obviously my preference is not having people above especial in older buildings that don't contain noise well.

I loved my stay at Somerset. It was my first time to the island and this place was centrally located within short walking distance to shops, beaches and hiking trials. Yet, it offered a sense of seclusion hidden amongst lush subtropical gardens. The apartments were simplistic yet comfortable and very clean with a renovated bathroom. I was pleasantly surprised to have access to reliable wifi. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, I appreciated the free airport transfers. I look forward to coming back someday.

Great location. Comfortable rooms in quiet setting. Everything you need plus thoughtful extras, water bottles, back packs.

Internet is only available at the transit lounge. There is a paid service on the island which worked well but it it linked to the device you sign up with, so if you want to run a second device it is a second fee. This is unrelated to the apartments but it's the only option if you want wifi in your room.

It was a very comfortable place to stay and was walking distances to most places to visit and spend time at. The staff were very friendly and helped out wherever they could. The apartment was big enough for 2 people and the location was the best.

Downside was the ensuite was a bit small and it was difficult to move around in. The only toiletries provided was soap so you need to bring your own shampoo to wash your hair after going for a swim.

We were very happy here. The 1 bedroom apartment was big enough to provide two separate living areas, a kitchen/dining area and a deck with chairs. The kitchen was well equipped including request for an electric hot plate appliance and a pot, we had everything we desired to prepare food.

The walls are a bit thin so it’s easy to hear other guests talking through the walls.

The location is one of the best in the island, we have stayed at Somerset three times in the last 4 years and will continue to come back in the future. It’s very comfortable, has everything you need and the staff were great in making our trip with toddlers much easily and put us in rooms next to each other with a communal balcony. We had a wonderful trip.

First of all, Lord Howe Island is one of the most beautiful destinations we have ever encountered, and the Somerset Apartments were a wonderful place to stay while enjoying the island. We visited the museum, and went scuba diving, bird watching, and hiking. The apartments are basic, and ours had a small kitchenette with a microwave and refrigerator, which allowed us to cook small meals. The apartments are very conveniently located, midway and a short walk to both Ned's and Lagoon beaches. There is only one restaurant nearby, but there are two small grocery stores that had some small pre-made meals for the microwave or burgers. There is homemade ice-cream at the post office, and a food truck at Ned's beach when we were there. For slightly more distant restaurants, a shuttle for pickup can be arranged. We had to cancel our first night because the weather delayed our plane, but we were aware of the 8 week cancellation policy, and the management provided us a letter for reimbursement from our travel insurance. We hope one day we can go back!

Sometimes the hot water was hit or miss, but otherwise we did not encounter any problems. The doors do not lock from the outside, which is a strange concept for us since we are long term urban dwellers, but we were assured our belongings would be safe when we were away. We brought our own scuba gear, but walking with it to the dive shop was tiring, so divers might consider renting dive gear.

Location was close to most things and flat terrain to get to and from them. Verandah, privacy, drop off to restaurants for dinner, comfy bed, plenty of BBQs, recycling, bike parking, gorgeous gardens, bird calls.

Our room had a very small bathroom, but there appear to be many configurations if that is something important to you. Couple of missing 1%ers like sharp knife, serving spoon, champagne glasses, shampoo n conditioner, but we got by using other options available.
