LOCATION in Lake Louise village itself meant we could get to the lakes very early in the morning before the crowds from Banff and Canmore arrived. The room is clean and functional, with parking directly outside. Generous Breakfast buffet. Guest laundry. There's a selection of bars and restaurants in Lake Louise village, but this is a small village, so don't set your expectations too high.
This wasn't a problem for us, but the main freight railway runs past the back of the hotel (and other hotels in the village too) so you must expect some train noise at any time of day or night.

Clean, comfortable large room - much better than we were expecting given that this place is apparretly only a two star hotel. Front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. Finding the place and parking is very easy and the location is great for exploring Lake Louise and Moraine, as well as nearby Yoho national park and the Icefields Parkway.
The breakfast was adequate, but probably not more than that - the food selection was good enough but the breakfast room is a rather 'mass market' experience. That said, it's included in the price and we didn't go hungry or feel the need to get breakfast elsewhere. It's also available from 06:00 if you are intending to get up to the lakes for before most of the crowds.

Mountaineer Lodge is one of the 'cheaper' options in Lake Louise village (spoiler alert - Lake Louise accommodation is very expensive any time of year). The hotel itself is very clean and the hot tub and steam room are great. Hilariously we didn't actually get to see the Lake because the lake carpark (which is $40 CAD a car) was full and the shuttle (which is $40 CAD per person) was also fully booked. We weren't too disappointed as, coming from New Zealand, we have our fair share of mountain lakes you don't have to pay to look at.

We loved the property. Right in the middle of Lake Louise near the shopping area. They pretty much have thought of everything a traveler would need. The staff was fun and very helpful. The included breakfast made this stop on our 14 day trip to Alberta so very reasonable.
I don’t think that they can do about this after the original layout of the room. When you turned on the light at the door all the room lights went on. That’s not so bad but if you want to get up early, as I do, I want to make coffee and there is no dedicated light over the coffee area. This was a little difficult because my partner likes to get up later. To add lighting now would be pretty difficult. Also, There is coffee in the lobby so I could have walked to get one. No big deal

The room and facilities were exceptional and the check in receptionist was very helpful with advice about local restaurants and facilities. She was able to ensure that we had a ground floor room which was important for my wife because of a bursitis problem . The room was well equipped with a fridge, microwave, kettle and coffee maker.
The only improvement that I could suggest might be a public seating area. That said, our room had an arm chair as well as a small couch and a table so we had plenty of space to si in our room .

The remodeled rooms in the main lodge were excellent. Hiker/Skier designed -with hooks, and a boot dryer. Large king bed was comfortable, sitting area was a nice touch. Whirlpool/Jacuzzi was very nice as was the steam room.
1. The rooms have AC which is truly great. However, it is located next to the bed and blows straight down onto the bed which is super annoying at night. The fins for the vent are automatic and always change back to the default position (blowing on the bed). Instead, these AC units should be reprogrammed to shoot up to the ceiling. 2. Breakfast is included, but it really lacks....same food every day....a lot of it is prefab and low quality. The coffee was better than average. Honestly, they should put a full restaurant on this property since there are so many tourists trying to eat getting a table anywhere in the area is a bit of nightmare. 3. Napkins! Please stock rooms and lobby with Napkins -tissues don't cut it.

What a fabulous hotel. Very attentive staff and friendly. Easy check in and free coffee and cookies. Breakfast was amazing and plentiful. Only gripe was the housekeeping. Don’t use those things on the door as they take no notice. We had do not disturb on out door and went for breakfast. We were back by 10am and took them off and changed them to get room cleaned. We returned 7 hours later and it wasn’t touched. Reception were good and replaced our towels and drinks but pls be aware. It seems after 10am they don’t go back.

The remodeled room at Mountaineer Lodge felt impressively clean and fresh, giving off a modern and inviting vibe. Everything from the decor to the amenities seemed thoughtfully updated, enhancing the overall comfort and experience. It was evident that great care had been taken to ensure a high standard of cleanliness and functionality. The attention to detail truly made the stay enjoyable, leaving a lasting positive impression.
The breakfast room at Mountaineer Lodge could use a remodel to match the updated rooms and improve the overall experience.

Great location. In the centre of Lake Louise town. Can walk to shops and restaurants. The breakfast room and food was very good - typical Canadian breakfast provided. There is a shuttle bus for people staying overnight which takes you to the Lake. Ask for details at the NP information office. Large parking area. No lifts so if you need a room at ground level mention this when you book as they allocate all the rooms before you arrive. Laundry facilities are coin operated.
