This is the only hotel my husband and I will ever stay in, when in Kunming. Our room was PERFECT and beyond what we expected. We paid slightly higher for a room upgrade and just ADORED our room. I wish we could have spent even another night in the hotel and would have paid extra just to be there - pity time was not on our side and we had to return to South Africa. We will definitely be coming back and requesting that specific room again (if its available at the time of our travel). Reception staff are friendly, professional and efficient and most of them are able to communicate basic English which helps alot. Reception staff are also equipped with translation apps on their devices making communication in different languages possible. Great staff, Great Service, Great overall everything!! Happy customers. We will definitely come back.

Loved the room, it was spacious, clean, comfortable, well thought out. Wifi was strong, bathrooms were very clean, bed and pillows were super comfortable, close to Kunming Train Station and Kunming International Airport. The staff were friendly, and very helpful. My favourite part was the working and living room space in the suite, it worked perfectly for my trip.

Room service took a long time if you did not order their set meal options. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel property for your next stay in Kunming.

Great location next to Spring City 66 shopping mall and Dongfeng subway station. Easy access to all parts of Kunming. The room was nice and clean although the hotel is a bit dated. I liked that they offered soft and firm options for their pillows in the room! The rooms also come with universal plug points which is convenient for us. WiFi automatically connects once you’ve logged in once. It was a 15-20 min walk to Kunming Old Town and the rest of the shopping malls. 45 mins from the airport via the subway. Location wise, it was perfect. The staff speak passable English, which was great for us as tourists who can’t really speak Chinese.

The breakfast was rather underwhelming and the coffee machine needs upgrading. The coffee was terrible. :( The aircon in the room wasn’t very cold either but they did try to send a service engineer to help repair it. (Other reviewers have already commented about this.)

Chris, The floor manager was extremely accommodating, helpful and friendly. She kindly extended our stay by extra two hours when I went down with flu. Moreover, she delivered two cups of ginger teas & six bottles of mineral water herself to our room. When we left, she went to flag down a taxi & send us off. Because of her, I will return to Holiday Inn.

Although the hotel accepted my request for a quiet room. When checked in, we were given a room right next to the lifts lobby. Internal organisation communication should be strengthened.

good location very convenience for shopping, eating and business. Breakfast is good quality and more items. stafff very helpful and friendly event they are speaking chinese and i can not speaking chinese also.

but one thing is not good for me hotel will stop air condition from 1 am - 6 am, first time i do not know about that but feel hot and feel stress at night time, first time i think air condition not good but staff informed me about that but my health not good i have high blood pressure then need cool weather Staff very helpful they take one cooler machine for me. that is very kind and good.

Strategic location. Staff are helpful. Vast variety of breakfast especially the coffee of high quality bean. The counter staff Chris even provide suggestions where local patron shopping mall instead of tourist shopping mall and how to go around the beautiful city.

The breakfast if go after 9.30am the good food mostly are not available. During winter the room heater is too hot and not able to adjust.

Only unpleasant experience was related to booking the airport dropoff at the front desk. The man on duty said that all vehicles are fully booked (strange!) and recommended a taxi service for 320 yuan. When the taxi arrived the next morning, the driver staged a big drama about how 4 people and bags won't fit in his car and he's afraid of getting his car dirty. In the end, we had to book an additional taxi, as we were getting late. This is really unprofessional considering that I asked the front desk for a car that fits 4 people and 4 bags. However, the girl in the morning was helpful in communicating with the driver.

We liked the room, especially when we got an upgrade to a suite with two bathrooms. There is a very friendly and helpful staff Chris Xu who helped us to arrange for a private taxi to the Stone Forrest although the hotel did not have any travel agents. She went out of her way to ensure that we had help when we needed.

The cleanliness of the room was good. However, the bathroom had mould that looks like it had not been scrubbed for many years.

The hotel staff were great. Had an upgrade to a suite which is very nice. Breakfast spread is excellent with lots of choice and all very tasty. The staff were all great and a special mentioned to Kitty where she was very apologetic about some minor issues that I mentioned. She is so kind and appreciate our stay in the hotel.excellent work!! Just minor issue with the air conditioning that wasn’t cold enough

The breakfast buffet was excellent. The room was completely smoke free, which was very often not the case in other hotels in China. There was no smell of smoking in our room at the Holiday Inn in Kunming.

The swimming pool was promoted as a hotel facility but once we stepped into the swimming pool area it didn't feel like it was part of the hotel premises. Everything was only in Chinese and there was a swimming class with an instructor there when we came up there with our 2 kids. Nobody indicated when this class would be over or if we could still use the pool. Clarify this issue for guests.
