The staff is amazing- extremely helpful and responsive. The food is outstanding - from delicious breakfast options to stunning 3 course dinners and yummy cocktails & mocktails. And the cabins are gorgeous with panoramic views of the ocean and mountains from both the deck and super comfortable king size bed.

It's a bit of an adventure to get there right now because part of the main road is washed out... but in a 4x4 vehicle, it's pretty fun to go over the beach (through a bit of water at high tide!) up the road to the restaurant. From there, it's a bit of a hike up a hill to access the cabins. We actually LOVED IT! But if you're not into hiking up and down it could be a drawback.

Very difficult to get in contact with the place before we booked, as we had some questions. Tried to call and sent several messages and no response. Had to contact the Sandglass office and go through instagram to get in touch. The road to the rooms is not possible to use so its a bit of a hike to get to your room. But the staff told us prior arrival so we kind of knew. Unfortunately the place does not offer specialty coffee as stated on the website only black coffee. Was not possible to order a cappuccino.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. The views over Drake Bay and the jungle were amazing. We had dinner at the hotel, we are both vegetarian and the food was beautiful and creative, I really recommend eating at the restaurant if you stay here.

The bathroom is open so insects can get in (at least in our bungalow), so if you don’t like insects this could be an issue…netting would make sense and still create an open atmosphere.

Beautiful spot in Drake Bay with fantastic panoramic views of the bay. Definitely recommend if you're visiting Drake Bay, and want a peaceful relaxing spot. The food at both breakfast and dinner was delicious. Communication was great with the property and really helped us with any questions we had.

Beautiful place with incredible views of Drake Bay. Friendly, welcoming staff, who were always helpful, especially with arrival and departure planning. Tasty Breakfast and the dinner we had there was also delicious. Comfy bed and amazing showers with a view. Recommend to anyone who is staying in Drake Bay.

Beautiful views and excellent room.

The walk to the room was pretty brutal. Very far and a tough climb.

Such a beautiful room with an exceptional view. Paradise. The bathroom was phenomenal. Excellent breakfast. We were met off of the boat by a member of staff who helped us with our luggage, which was a big help as there is a long steep walk. In each room there was a really thoughtful book of all of the Costa Rican animals.

Unfortunately some of the things advertised on booking.com were not accurate. Including a daily cleaning service. Due to open air bathroom and location, as well as the cost, this should be a non-negotiable as we had a lot of bugs on the floor. There was no unlimited access to coffee and tea. On our first morning we were not offered any drinks for breakfast and we had to ask. The following day when there were more guests coffee and tea were laid out for guests to help themselves. This is standard and I was disappointed. Overall I was disappointed with my stay at Drake bay. The safe was not working and when moved to a different room the sliding doors would not lock. Despite getting in touch with the manager we never received any communication. I don’t think that the experience matches the price. Which was such a shame.
