We (a couple) recently had the pleasure of staying at the Schlosshotel Klaffenbach, a hotel beautifully integrated into a 16th-century castle. The setting of the hotel is absolutely stunning, nestled in a serene park with a romantic moat and picturesque views that make you feel as if you've stepped back in time. The rooms, while not particularly spacious (double superior), were nicely appointed with a good blend of historical charm and modern amenities. Each room was uniquely decorated, which added a personal touch to the stay. Despite the smaller size, the space was efficiently used, making it comfortable and cozy. The dining experience was a highlight, with the restaurant offering a variety of traditional German and international dishes. The quality of the food was excellent, and it was a treat to dine in such a historic atmosphere. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and accommodating, enhancing the overall experience. Overall, if you're looking for a unique place to stay with a lot of character and don't mind smaller rooms, Schlosshotel Klaffenbach is a fantastic choice. It's a peaceful retreat that offers a good mix of relaxation and historical exploration, and a nice golf course. We would happily return and recommend it to those who appreciate a blend of history and hospitality.

It's worth noting that instead of a shower, our room featured only a bathtub. This might be a consideration for those who prefer the convenience of a shower, so ask for such a room. The absence of air conditioning in Schlosshotel Klaffenbach, likely a consequence of its status as a historic building, might lead to uncomfortably warm rooms during summer. Additionally, the hotel’s exterior walls are not particularly thick, so we believe that guests shouldn’t expect these to provide much cooling effect.

Exceptional location, quiet surroundings, spacy room (single bed) with nice bathroom, good breakfast, nice bike path (10km) to the Chemnitz city center, good price/value, strong (but not very fast) wi-fi

Remote location - you need car or bike to reach the city center in reasonable time, no mosquito nets in the windows (and there is a plenty of water bodies around) so during the summer sleep in hot room or risk bugs inside

Very quiet and picturesque surroundings with the ancient Castle. Attentive staff and an excellent breakfast. We were very impressed with the level of service. This made our stay very enjoyable.

Difficult to get around without a car as we arrived by train. Fortunately my nephew who lives locally provided the taxi service.

It was a quiet, beautiful location and we were very pleased with the comfort of the rooms, the cleanliness and the meals. WIsh we could have stayed more than one night.

I guess my only complaint would be that when the items ran out at breakfast, that was it. So we ate late and although we had more than enough, we definitely missed out on some regional specialties. I only mentioned this because the website insisted that i respond. So I did.

A great hotel who kindly changed our booking after our Inbound flight was cancelled the day before arrival. So we'll done to that reception gentleman! The restaurant manager was also excellent too and made us feel very welcome, but was always busy making the area spic & span, well done! Restaurant was a nice atmosphere too. Try the lentil soup it was fantastic. We would stay again and keep up the good work!

I found the pillows far too soft and not supportive, so slept badly but typically this is the German style. I wonder if guests could be offered an alternative firmer type, perhaps? Sadly, I felt the plastic screens in reception were unnecessary and actually a barrier to normal friendly communication and seemed to isolate reception staff to be honest. The above aren't deal breakers, but I mention them because I would like the hotel to be successful as we enjoyed our stay, so I trust this feedback is helpful. Thanks

Superb hotel. Beautifully renovated old castle in extensive grounds. Excellent romantic dinner in very stylish vaulted dining room. Clean and comfortable room and modern bathroom. Everything perfect!

Couldn't be better, the hotel suited all our requirements.

The room was excellent, great staff (the restaurant waiter in the evening especially so), awesome restaurant and food, stunning building and location. I think the surrounding area would be very nice in warmer times of the year but in mid-winter it was dark and cold so I didn't stay to enjoy it. The bed was comfortable and I slept well, very important on a business trip with an important meeting the next day.

The car park is some distance away. It was bitterly cold during my stay and the area close to the hotel was very icy so dragging a bag from the car was a bit of a chore.

Great - castle hotel with a modern twist. Really friendly and helpful staff. We appreciated the vegan options for both dinner and breakfast. Very clean and the extra little room for our son was a big hit!

The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing and staff were very helpful. We would highly recommend to have a meal in the restaurant. Would definitely stay again.

Breakfast was not good as it should be in 4* hotel. The coffee was very poor, and the choice of food was limited.
